So please enjoy the read, and if you would like to be featured in a future edition please follow the link and let us know!
For our first edition we will be discussing the Souk map and Chest Capture as our featured mode. Our guests will explain how this mode and map can be fun, or even challenging. First up let me introduce to everyone our four featured players in no particular order……

1.In your opinion what is the best advantage of this map? gamercraze1997 says, “The best advantage of Souk is that its very open and there is little area to get killed from above”
poison samurai says, “I think the indoor labyrinth with all the chase breakers is the best advantage, if you are being chased.”
Chaos_Martin says, “It has no roofs so you don’t have to worry about people jumping on you.”
wabashop says, ” What makes Souk so great, is the fact that there are practically no roofs on this map. The only chance of killing your target in an aerial fashion, would be by the blended group next to the herald, it’s to the right of the Dome in the middle of the map, with stairs leading up to it. (I’ll get to this later) You realize this such an important and useful advantage, because the one advantage of no roofs, provides other advantages in offense, defense, stealthy approaches, on point teamwork on defense, stalking your appointment, and all around not having to deal with roof campers.”
april2011 says, “I am certainly going to agree with the limited aerial attacks, plus the little market corridors are perfect for hiding.”
2. Do you have a favorite stalking or hunting spot?Poison Samurai says, “Well, I like poisoning, so I think the place up top, near all the barriers is my favorite stalking spot, because I have a great chance to hide while I build up incognito.”
gamercraze1997 says, “I don’t really have a specific hiding spot, but I like the center area the best because everyone passes by it.
wabashop says, ” My favorite spot to stalk and lure my targets is the blended group which faces the Dome in the middle of the map. This is the only way to kill your target in an aerial fashion, but what most people do not know, is that you can get a Hidden Aerial Kill if the opportunity presents itself, or if you lure your pursuers to this spot.. The blended group is one of many ways you can achieve a hidden kill, there’s also benches, a blended walking group, morphed walking group, and hay bales. So as you see your target in a position to get aerialed, stand in the group for a good 2 seconds, (an extra 3 if you want the focus) and just press the kill button. And you got yourself a Hidden Incog Focus Aerial Kill, which is a 800 kill. 1000 points and more, if you counter in the Variety Bonuses.”
Chaos_Martin says, ” I have one, in a market corner with a escape gate near by and the chest is located near a hay stack with normal 3 hiding spots. since the other team have no roofs to climb on there is only 2 options for the other team to choose.
april2011 says,”Good choices, personally my favorite spot would have to be near the staircase that has the haystack at the top, and the dividers near by. Easy prey.”
3. If you could add one feature or take one away from this map what would it be?wabashop says, “I really think the big Dome in the middle of the map is a nuisance, i don’t really see the point in it, seeing as how no one really goes in there… And defensively, there’s nothing great about it. All around I just find it dull.”
Chaos_Martin says, “Hmm I wouldn’t mind some one throwing fruit at you if you barge past them so the’ll knock you on the head and slow you down slightly. XD”
poison samurai says, “Well, I think it would be nice if you could climb on top of the big dome in the center of the map, because It would provide a lot more jumping kill opportunities.”
gamercraze1997 says, “I think I wouldn’t remove or add anything, its pretty balanced out with ground area and chase breakers.
april2011 says, “I would not mind having part of the map having some dark corridors, so that you can barely see in some parts giving the hunter more cover.”
1. When playing in CC do you prefer protecting or capturing chests and why?gamergraze1997 says, “I prefer to protect in CC, I do enjoy to see the blood of others so protecting is natural, some occasions I will play for capture but only if I have to.”
wabashop says, “I like Capturing because it really adds much skill to my free running. You get a great understanding and knowledge of the maps that you maybe weren’t too sure about. It’s an aggressive defense, I really love the teamwork it takes in capturing. There’s many methods of going about in capturing chests with your team. My favorite 2 are Wolf Pack Capturing, or We’ll rendezvous at the Gold Capturing. Yes, i put a name to it. With Wolf Pack Capturing, your practically by your teammates side at all times, capturing each chest together, looking out for one another. This is pretty obvious, but it always works like a charm. My other type of Capturing, is splitting up. You see, 3 chests are spawned in as you spawn in. Lets say for example…. Me and a teammate # 2 go to Chest A, Teammate 3 & 4 go to Chest B, then we rendezvous at the Gold Chest. (the last chest standing) What this does is really confuse the protectors, because there not sure if they should hunt for us, or protect and watchdog the chest. Its a great psychological way of beating your opponents.”
Chaos_Martin says, “Capturing because you can stun and stunning is a lot quicker then killing and capturing chest are a lot quicker if you work in a team.”
poison samurai says, “I like capturing the chests, because I am better at defense, and I enjoy tricking people who are trying to kill me.”
april2011 says, “I tend to do better hunting in Chest Capture, I just love to wait in-between the chests and poison the other team as they run past to hurry and get to the next chest.”
2. Is there a feature to this mode while playing Souk you wish to add, or and existing one that you would like to change?poison samurai says, “Well, I think you should be able to capture chests from up higher, so when you are playing it, you have more of a chance of capturing chests.
wabashop says, “Chest Capture is by far most favorite mode in an AC multiplayer. I believe it to be the real way Manhunt should be played. Offense and defense, with an objective on both sides. Theres many objectives. Find and kill your targets,Protect the Chests doing so,Stay Alive,Capture the Chests doing so. I just find this fun, and to put it bluntly, I love Chest Capture So I definitely like it the way it is.”
Chaos_Martin says, “Maybe 1 extra chest that require more time to capture but gives out lots more points.”
gamercraze1997 says, “I think that I would make the Final (Gold) Chest a smaller area to capture. So the first two should be normal sized and then the gold chest should be about half the diameter of the first two.”
april2011 says, “I would like to see the chests have different locations, totally different from where they are now. I would like a chest to be located inside the little round structure within the map because it has multiple entrances.”
3.When playing in CC mode at Souk what is the average number of chests you capture per match? Average number of kills?Chaos_Martin says, ” I say around 4 depends on how much I had to drink.”
gamercraze1997 says, “I think that my average kills would be about 10 or 9, I dont play CC very much and I’d say I capture about maybe 3 or 4 chests per session.”
poison samurai says, “Well, I’d say four to six chests, and depending on whether I am getting my slow “artist kills” or just running around and killing quickly, I’d say I get between 4 and 12 kills.”
wabashop says, “Usually I’ll capture about 8 to 10 chests, while killing 8 to 10 targets as I’m protecting the chests.”
april2011 says, “Personally I tend to do really good with CC in this map. I would have to say that it is due to the inability of hunters getting aerial kills on me. I usually get about 3 or 4 high point kills and around 8 to 10 stuns.”
1.When playing on this map in CC what is your favorite ability set and why?poison samurai says, “I really like the smoke bomb, but I think morph is my favorite in chest capture. I like to use it to lure my pursuer and either run or stun them.”
Chaos_Martin says, “Mute, because if the enemy player is approaching you for a stealthy kill then, mute, stun and Run!
wabashop says, “When playing on this map in CC what is your favorite ability set and why? When Im protecting the chests, I usually roll with Disguise and Decoy. When I protect, I run out to get a general idea on which chest my pursuers will be capturing first. I observe the map and routes and determine which chest there headed to. Usually I don’t camp by the chests, I look to surprise them about 200 yards away from my chest. The compass tells you where there running, so I wait there, and give them a nice surprise. I use disguise to surprise my targets, because their constantly seeking out your persona, so by disguising into a different persona, it throws them off. Decoy is a the biggest gem in ACR in my opinion. What decoy does on offense, is that its a great revealing ability (Templar Vision, Firecrackers, Charge) Its a very stealthy way of revealing who’s who in a blended or morphed group without shining like a Christmas tree or freaking out all NPCs with firecrackers. You see when you use Decoy, an NPC will change into your persona and charge at the group, in the pursuers mind he’s saying “Thats my target running straight at me, lets stun him.” This is usually what happens. All targets will drop a defensive ability, thus revealing themselves and wasting their abilities. They stun my decoy, giving me a Lure bonus on offense . (ACR only) My favorite, it prevents the contested kill. While capturing,I either roll with Smoke/Mute… or Disguise/Smoke.”
gamercraze1997 says, “My favorite ability set for CC I’d say for offense is Disguise and Smoke Bombs. Perks being resistance and resilience. For defense I use Templar Vision and the Hidden Gun.”
april2011 says, “For this map I just stick with my usual perks…boost cool downs and revelations. I of course use my poison, and mute.”
2. Do you feel there is any abuse of items from players of the opposite team when playing in either this mode or this map? What are they?Chaos_Martin says, “SMOKE BOMBS! Honestly, it’s annoying when you get smoked bombed, then stun, or you about to make a kill, you press square and you even lunge to kill them but they use smoke bomb and oh noes! You miss them -_-
poison samurai says, “DEFINETLY. See, I like the whole mystery/ hiding game when you are defending the chests, and I think people ruin it when they run around stunning nilly willy, which gets old quickly, and it gets rid of the fun of finding your target.”
gamercraze1997 says, “On a basis there are a lot of offensive smoke bombs which make me want to throw my controller at the TV, but for CC I think that Disguise and Templar Vision are things overused. Disguise is always a great way to hide in plain sight, but Templar vision is hard to do things because you become a human Christmas Tree.”
wabashop says, “Absolutely… The biggest complaint in ACR is the Offensive Smoking Bombing or in short OSB. I look at this as a cheap way of getting a high point kill, its an easy way out. And when you look at it, in terms of being stealthy and incognito (unseen) I’m pretty sure if some one walks up to me and drops a cloud of smoke, I’ll assume that their not some normal NPC in the crowd. Not incognito at all, and with smoke’s incredibly short cool down. It seems as if the majority of players abuse this tactic. If people play with the mindset that they don’t need a smoke bomb to get a good quality kill, they’ll realize how the other abilities have much use to them.”
april2011 says, “I don’t see an over abuse of items in this mode or map, however players do tend to hide in the haystacks a lot in Souk. In general tho, OSB are a big problem. There is no stealth in killing that way.”
3. Do you have a preferred Character for this map? If so why?Chaos_Martin says, The Bombardier because he blends in the crowd quite well and he seems like the type of person who belongs there instead of a Dr wearing a big huge white coat.”
poison samurai says, “Not really. I try to choose a character that will blend in with it’s surroundings and not stick out, so even though I love the doctor and the jester, I usually use something less obvious.”
wabashop says, “Hands down its gotta be The Count. I just believe that The Counts overall appearance really goes with the map. The Count has got some style, I’ll admit. As does this map Souk, a map of skill and style.”
gamercraze1997 says, “I love all the characters personally, my favorite character for Souk though I’d have to say is Ottoman Jester. While he might be wearing the obvious Bright construction worker orange he blends in well with the back round and can blend in fairly easy.”
So that wraps up our first edition of our “Play by the Creed” blog, please be sure to answer the poll to vote on the next mode and map for our second edition! Are you new to Chest Capture? Not familiar with Souk? Read our player tips for this edition bellow.Chaos_Martin says, “Do not stay close together when travelling to another chest. If you or one of your allies trigger a smoke bomb and your all close together then you going to get caught up in it too.”
poison samurai says, “Well, I like to morph a crowd and stand in it, ****hest from the nearest entrance, because people usually go for someone closer to themselves. Also, don’t give yourself away by moving or running forwards to stun, wait for them to lose their contract by killing a civilian, so they can’t kill you. If there is more than one, use a smoke bomb and either stun or run. Another option is to morph a crowd, and hide in another nearby crowd with one other same templar character. The enemy’s attention will be on the larger, morphed group, not your small group.”
wabashop says, If you are a newcomer to the mode of Chest Capture, make sure to have a keen observation of you’re surroundings as your Capturing and Protecting. For example, while you’re in the process of capturing a chest; make sure that you are not in any position to get roofed. When you’re entering a chest that is in the process of being captured, simply use you’re skills of observation, look around and scope the place. Now that you know of players who use blender and hide in hay bales, you’re more likely to catch that trick. Catch to see if a player is standing in a blended group in a wrong way. What I mean by this, is that an NPC (a computer generated character) stands a certain way, in a certain fashion, if a player is standing just a little outside the group, not moving his arms, not conversing with the others, its a sure sign that that is an actual player. Observing like this, really raises your observation, as well as preventing you to use Revealing Abilities (Templar Vision, Firecrackers, Charge) Not saying those abilities are necessarily bad, but I do not find it particularly stealthy, and it usually makes you’re targets aware on what abilities you’re using. Since Chest Capture has a very high stakes/fast paced gameplay; most protectors will be running around to protect their chests. If they notice that a certain player is capturing, say Chest B.. Since you’re compass desynchronizes (disappears) as you approach a chest you intend to protect, most players will scope out the location on a rooftop or ledge, if anyone is in position to get roofed, it most likely will happen. That’s generally speaking for capturing, a map such as Souk of course , which has no roofs. So if you want to capture, make sure that just because there is no compass for your pursuer, does not make you invisible if you are hiding in a hay bale.”
april2011 says, ” Don’t bother chasing your prey, cut them off at the next chest. Personally I let them capture one, and build up to incognito then make a kill. Also players tend to run around the outer perimeters of Souk so I try and hang out on the outskirts of the map.”
