    Removing DLC

So I would venture that at least a significant minority of users have become frustrated by freezing during events and other modes of the game. I have gone so far as emailing and calling and nobody will be accountable and admit there is a serious issue. If you minimize your DLC it will minimize freezing. Aside from creating numerous profiles on your ps3, i have one for each decade, this is the only way to enjoy the game once you have achieve a substantial amount of respect points...Of course I might be wrong but this is the strategy that is currently working for me.

Have you tried limiting your events to 4 or 5 songs? The only time I ever have an issue with freezing on my PS3 is with events with lots of songs. I have probably about 75% of the DLC that has been offered so far.
My pick-up toggle switch has 3 modes: Swank, Extra Swank, and Super Swank

Dang. I already find it frustrating that I have to sign all the way out of RS to bring in a second player for multiplayer or to switch players! If I had to create a separate profile for a bunch of different divisions of DLC, that might be about the end for me and RS. Hope you get a resolution.

I forgot to mention that. I would never go beyond four.

On the xbox I believe there's a way to move the DLC data from the hard drive to a USB. Could a PS3 do that as well?

I have all the DLC (PS3) and I haven't been deleting it when I restart. When I reached RS level 9 my game freezes became unbearable. I simply added another profile to the PS3 and started RS from scratch. When I noticed that I could still play all of the DLC downloaded from my primary profile on the newly added profile, I then deleted the game save from the primary profile and started that RS journey from scratch. Personally I don't see a benefit from deleting DLC when you restart the journey. Either deleting a profile's game save or just adding another profile work just fine. Bottom line has been that once I reached RS level 6 the freezing starts to creep in. I'll just continue my pattern of adding profiles and deleting game saves so I'm always playing a profile ranked lower than RS level 6...until the Patch fix in a couple more months.

edit. I just reread your post and you weren't talking about deleting DLC, just minimizing it during events, right? Well for me it hasn't mattered whether I'm using DLC or on-disc songs during events, when I reach the higher RS levels the game freezes in RR, when trying to scroll through the song menu, events with 4 songs. Also events have a staggered, stuttering, wavy note highway...simply unbearable. But, when playing at RS levels under 6, I can play any song in any event without a freeze and no problems with stuttering note highways.

Actually, and I could be entirely wrong, but I think both notions were incorrect... I'm pretty sure he was talking about removing DLC without restarting the journey... Basically, he believes the additional DLC is what's causing his console to freeze... thus, by removing the DLC, he could continue on within the game... i.e. He wouldn't be restarting, simply going forward after removing the harmful DLC...

And, yeah, I don't see why you couldn't do that, you just have to go to the memory and delete the downloaded songs. What that will do if any of those are in a setlist? Dunno... probably just reset the set...

A long time ago someone posted a picture of their 100,000,000 Rocksmith point. It maxed out and I thought *****n got to go for it. Then I began to download DLC and continue to do events. Eventually the freezing made it impossible to continue. Ive found the only way to continue by minimizing freezing is to delete game data not your profile. Reload the patch and continue with the journey. For me the more DLC you put on the file the greater the chance of freezing. Now I notice a different interface and am wondering if some other modifications have been made.

    freezing bug

I'm a software developer myself, and I think the Rocksmith team's inaction on this bug is a disgrace. A consistent problem like this which makes a game virtually unplayable should be top priority, by a wide margin! Anything else is incredibly disrespectful behaviour towards your customers.

I wasn't aware of the bug until recently, as I'm a terrible guitar player myself, and had reached only level 4 or 5 or so. But now my 11 y/o son started playing the game. He's somewhat decent after having been going to regular practice for about a year (but only once a week). He played the Rocksmith journey and quickly got to level 8, but now the freezes are getting frustrating enough for him that he stopped playing again. 4 months of me trying to motivate him to practice more guitar, he finally digs in and gets super enthusiastic with the game -- for 2 friggin' days... and he's off it again because it became unplayable for him. groan

Unbelievable that a) they have left this bug around since October (!), and b) they don't even give it priority over adding new features and content. Downright scandalous. I'd lose my job if I did stuff like this on the software projects I'm working with.

    Inaction?

They've been working on solving the problem the whole time.
