Question What about Conviction's last moments?

During Conviction's last moments some of the plot's answers were given, but much was left open for discussion.

    Who is Meggido?
    What do they want?
    How did they come about?

Now Sam's running 4E - something anyone who listened to Grim's last words to Sam could guess would happen - and president Caldwell's publicly discredited 3E as a rogue agency, maybe even openly pinning the Washington's blackout on them. Unfortunately, I'm not getting a vibe that the Blacklist is Meggido's doing.

I don't assume I could get any spoilers out of the team, so that's not the purpose of this thread. But, could anyone just give us a nod letting us know how Blacklist's storyline will 'work'? Is it going back to pre-Double Agent days when everything was set in the same universe, but each storyline was mostly self-contained - with some narrative plot points influencing a sequel story's motivation, but not going much ****her than that or is Blacklist a direct sequel to Conviction and we can expect Meggido's storyline to be developed further?

Thoughts, guesses, an official word from the team? (Pretty, please!)

    PS: lol at Ubisoft's censoring system blocking the word F A R T H E R.

well I have the same fear, I am afraid they may end up treating SCB like a new start, a new Echelon, a new Sam Fisher, a new story, ..........etc, I hope we get more insight about Megiddo, but as you said the story of SCB doesn't seem to be Megiddo's doing, yet who knows.

I even wonder will SCB start with Sam rescuing Vic from Black Arrow ?!, or should we forget about that too !!!!

Man what a shame it would be if the story has little to do with the immensely relied-on story of Conviction and they make you fight "desert terrorists" in daylight for no reason... a scene we have played in countless games released in the last three years. Bleh... if they're making SCB a self contained story they could at least be a bit more creative than this.

LOL they censor f art. That's pretty hilarious.

I'am actually really keen to rescue vic, i wonder if you'd be in fourth echelon or not though. because like in the *sigh* e3 trailer for blacklist, it seems as if there may be some recruting mission so maybe saving coste will also tie into that?

My theory is that Megiddo is behind the Blacklist, using it as a possible cover or distraction for something else.
It makes sense. We don't know exactly what their agenda is; but using the Blacklist would serve a threefold-purpose... They probably know that Fisher and Caldwell have been made aware of their existence, and would want to do something to throw them off the pursuit. The other purpose remains to be seen; but would likely involve an extension of the plot revealed in Conviction, which is ostensibly, taking over the United States.
It also puts the global situation into chaos. The implications of something like 12 nations all pretty much declaring war against the U.S. aren't exactly slight.
Depending on the countries involved who their allies are; there's going to have to be a mix of delicate diplomacy and paralyzing pummeling (there's some alliteration for ya) and that's going to create a great opportunity for an entity like Megiddo to sneak under the radar and start furthering their agenda.

    But to what end?
I hope it goes beyond a hackneyed world domination plot. Reed was already too much of a Bond villain.
Or perhaps the coup was just an opportunistic "hey, we've got an opening here. Let's take it," kind of thing, and not really part of Megiddo's overall grand plan.

I hope the Meggido entity is still the story arc. Continuity is good, whether we like the story or not, whether Sam ages or not, continuity at least respects 'progression' of some sort.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Meggido name got dropped though. That could quite easily have been a given name by fringe elements that didn't know the full scoop. I mean meggido didn't announce themselves to the World like Al Queida or whoever.

can you say, RETCON? Ubisoft doesn't care for continuity. Which explains why they think Sam is ageless and why they brought Sarah back from the dead, just to create a "more personal" story that was filled with plot holes and out-of-character actions with both Sam and Grim. They also undid anything good that may have come out of Double Agent's story (i.e. Lambert's "death").

If Ubisoft is going in the "fresh start" direction, they should write a story that is less generic for a game that is not generic.

Megiddo is actually some rich banker in the Illuminati that has the authority to do mind control through HAARP.

after Conviction ended, Megiddo knew about Sam's victory over Reed and used HAARP on the White House, causing Sam, Grim and everyone there to forget everything. Sam then woke up and got a shock of his life, because he thinks that he's 18 years old but looks like he's 60. so, he dyed his hair like wat u see in SCB.

oh, and the explosion Vic heard? it's just a far.t lighting experiment gone wrong. one of the guys have too much gas.

Ubisoft can consider hiring me, see how PERFECT this story is?

The sniper in the E3 trailer looks and sounds a lot like Coste. It's a good catch that there may be recruitment missions, perhaps Coste is the first!
