Same exact issue here, I've tried all that you have done except for contacting support. It's not a Windows 8 issue due to other OS'es having this problem also. I'm on a AMD system, as you are. But I also have a ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card. If you find anything that works please let me know, I'll do the same for you.

    Regards,
    Eddie.

This might be a problem with internet explorer 10 or net framework 4.5. It's what I've come to think.

It could be windows 8 in conjunction with some other hardware/software that is preventing the game from running properly.

Same problem here. I ran the game in compatiablity to win xp, vista, win 7 and its still doing the same thing.. Why does it even need to use a browser anyway? SO what if Internet expolyers not your default browser then what? Every game that I play client/web browser works fine... Whats da deal???

I wish they just allowed us to run the yeti_release without the launcher, I think the launcher is what's messing it up, because last version I could run it with the yeti release but an error message occurred when I ran it with the launcher. That error message is gone now, however now I have this black screen...

I'm not sure about that, I have also seen a few others that have this problem with Windows 7 and XP.

I get the same issue. I downloaded the installer last night, installed the game, then left it up last night to patch and finally got done about 9hrs later. Now that I go and try to launch, it first was just straight black screen with the sounds then nothing but my pointer. Then closed it and relaunched it and this time could see the logos and stuff but I got to some little gro white icon and did the same thing. I am running Intel i7 920, 6gb ram, Nvidia GT 550 and 2tb hdd. The issue shouldn't be the computer as I run bf3 with high details and every other game. Even tried running it on my 3D animation rig with the AMD Opteron Eight-Core Processor 6128, 12gb ram, 2 - ASUS Radeon HD 7970 3GB without crossfire and with crossfire. No rig I have here in my house works, all 4 do the same thing at the same point of the launch. Any one have a fix for this yet or know of what Is causing the issue?

The first rig is running windows 7 ultimate x64 the 2nd is the consumers windows 8 x64

Also, I thought I would be clever and try running on an older pc (still i7) but running windows xp sp3. None of which would get passed the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online logo. They all still go to a black screen which when it does, it sounds as though it stopped working and all you can see is the normal mouse pointer. Checked to see if an error box came up and nothing, it just stops right after that logo. Tried running as admin, no luck, tried compatibility mode, no luck. Even went as far as trying to set the launcher.exe to run as admin and then that just made it so I couldn't launch it, so changed it back.
From a guy saying it isn't working for xp or 7. So I think this is a new issue, because last version there was a black screen after log in with crossfire and I assume that is still on here though I don't have dual video cards so I don't know. But now, there's a black screen after intro. I could get in the game last version on windows 8 perfectly, so they must have did something this patch to break it along with some other operating systems having this issue.
