Week 19 Challenge: "Sweet Home Alabama" Combo | Forums

My objective for this week challenge is to master the song. That second solo is a killer. No way I can go from 90% to full-spped. I will have to create 3 additional intermediary "very fast" videos: 93, 96, and 98% speed.

I didn't give up mastering this... I guess I figured out my speed problem. In the fast pull off section I was using alternate picking instead of sweep picking. I'm confident I can get it now. Here is the 96% speed video...

Congrats, mbarsott!!! That is one tough song, and lots of parts, that are classic guitar riffs and solo shapes. Great tools to have in your toolbox.

Just wanted to say Thanks to all the people that are having trouble learning this song. I started 2 days ago with the intro and wanted to throw my guitar across the room, sell my gear, and take up knitting. I now see its not just me.

Ha - thanks, I've been wanting to learn this song for a long time, but until the challenge, it was just too daunting. I think Mbarsott get's the award for stick-to-it-ness though! He's the one that inspired me to keep working on it after the challenge. I'm still trying to master solo 2, but I think it's probably beyond my reach for a little while.

I would suggest skipping the intro for now and working on the next section - it's similar, but a bit easier, so a good place to start.
