Thread: Female Characters? | Forums

I agree with you OP. I think if you can customize your character, The first 2 options should be Sex and Skin Color.

I miss the days of Diaz owning anything in her site path with that M-21, and SPR she used to wield. Hopefully we will see a DLC for this but, I doubt it.

    Indeed.

Forget of what the real armies do, if you are a female gamer, you will want to be a female.

    Simple.

There was a thread on this already.

There is no good reason, within the Ghost Recon-verse, to exclude women.

However, since their demographic includes almost no women, they don't really give a ****. In fact, it would probably be a bit off-putting if thirteen-year old boy had to play a female. I might buy a DLC for it, but they might have to throw something else in with it to make it worth the pricetag. And of course, I don't want the hitboxes to be drastically smaller so that there's actually an advantage or anything.

You mean like most of the first-world (or fourth-world, if you use the less-common nation metric) nations?

Exactly. There are two sexes. Anywhere from four to eight majorly represented races. If you don't vary the appearance between races, and rather just have a person with a different paint covering them, then its really two character models, and four-to-eight colours to put on a palette. If you do characterize them by race, that is, at the most, sixteen skins. I'm sure they can do that if they created a dozen skins just for civilians.

That's because the last time they did it, they were warned by a forum mod not to do so and had their posts edited/deleted.

If I recall I remember seeing female ghosts as early as Ghost Recon - Island Thunder (I remember specifically when playing split screen you could have a full team of female ghosts in every roll), and the most prominent or at least very obvious is Ghost Recon 2 with the Female sniper squad mate. Then in either GRAW or GRAW2 you could play as a female character in multi-player and I believe both had female squad mates in single player.

So, while GRFS dose have a linear story with set characters I see no reason why playable female characters would be excluded from multi-player.

Epic Games the Devs for Gears of War realized that they did have a female audience and included playable female characters for Co-Op and multi-player in GoW3. Plus I find it odd sense (I believe) there are already female character models in GRFS in the form of civilians in the various missions. Which means there is only the missing animations and combat gear to be modeled out and textured to have female player characters for multi-player.

    edit-
Found this in the Pictures sticky thread. Second from the left, a female character in game which goes to show that they already had the model and rigging assets (and skin tones for different racial backgrounds) in the game. Which one has to ask why didn't the devs just take the extra step and have them playable in multi-player at the very least.

    (Shameless Bump)

I really still wish they'd sell me some DLC with a female character....I already like the game and enjoy it as is; now all they have to do is continue fixing what they can and slip me a female character and I'll love them forever xB Although, can't wait for the DLC. It should be nice to have some more maps. I think they should drop a DLC in the future with a female character, it's a big issue to some, but I just want ther choice; before I broke my habit of having it determine a game for me, I use to pick up games based on whether or whether not they had female characters at all. It's not a 'feminist' thing, it's actually a heavy preference of mine based off the fact that I prefer a choice in gender. Most of my favorite games at the moment have female characters available in mulitplayer. I say let people choose, because it will make more people happy, and they will have more fun with their choices.
