So I am a Finance and Economics graduate, but I specifically remember marketing classes I took and I feel like their marketing strategy is beyond most people. Let me explain, if you know the top 5 most requested bands AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Guns N Roses etc....... Rocksmith people obviously read the forums for they answer question on facebook, but they never comment on these specific bands be requested. Personally I think it is smart and let me explain why, It gets users excited it could be their band request possibly coming even though Rocksmith knows if it is possible or not, but also it attracts people to return looking for updates and then maybe once in a while they might like the new DLC and purchase it. If they came out and just said these bands will not be in the game ever than I feel a lot of users/players would say screw Rocksmith. Since they keep people in the dark and always interested by the trill of who could be next it keeps them returning. That is also how I feel about the DLC content, it is about supply and demand and finding the equilibrium of how to increase sales from downloads. If that doesn't make much sense to you what I am saying is ask yourself this question, have you found yourself bored of the content? Do you go on youtube and enter the song for rocksmith and been like, you know what that actually might be fun to play I will buy it, well guess what I was that guy. I purchased songs I had no intent on buying for example the black keys songs Just got to be, Gold on the Ceiling, and Jessica from the Allman brothers, but now I love those songs. If you saturate the DLC every week people will only purchase what they are familiar with and purchase those songs only. I don't know this is maybe just my opinion, but has anyone else done this as well, thinking you wouldn't purchase a song and next thing you know you eventually did? and were glad you did.
