Online Pass Alternatives
Dear Ubisoft Community,
Let me start off by saying that I am not here to debate the Online Pass; I understand that Ubisoft and its employees may need the income. I am here because I know that there are better and more consumer-friendly ways for the video game industry to increase their income. You don't have to agree with me in thinking Online Passes are bad, but I suspect that you wouldn't be here on this forum unless you truly cared about the well-being of Ubisoft like I do. So, let me repeat myself by saying this is not an Online Pass debate. This is a chance to give Ubisoft money-making alternatives that don't hurt consumers.
I would like to open this make-shift brainstorming operation by suggesting sponsor acquisition and advertising. I don't mean advertising in-game (no one wants to see Sam Fisher using Motorola cell phones to talk to Grimsdottir). What I mean is advertising within their non-game-specific in-game browser, Uplay. I don't know about everyone else, but for every Ubisoft game that I play, I am always checking out the Uplay store to see what I can unlock using the Uplay points that I've earned. I wouldn't mind enduring a POM 100% fruit juice ad panel if it meant not being plagued with an Online Pass. Nor would I mind having a Tips and Tricks tab delivered to me by "[Some] Online University". There are loads of advertising possibilities within Uplay just waiting to be explored. This is just one of dozens of ways to bring in a more consumer-friendly income.
Whether you have a business-savvy brain or were just struck with inspiration, if you think you know of a way for game companies to increase their income or make to come out on top of the used game market, post those thoughts here. Showing Ubisoft your support doesn't have to mean you buy into Online Passes. Ubisoft is made up of men and women just like us, many of whom are doing their best to scrape by. There's no reason why we can't have a better company-consumer relationship. So, the ball now in your court. Make a post here to help.

If Ubisoft isn't your only passion publisher, "Like" this (brand new!) Facebook community and post your ideas or links to threads you've created in order to help other companies come up with better ideas. We're only just getting started. The video game industry needs our support. It just hasn't occurred to them that they can ask.
