As for noise complaints, try hooking up headphones to the console and muting the tv
I completely agree with this statement for I was struggling once I put the practice in Scale Runner my scores sky rocketed, Lt. DJ Henry on the Xbox 360 I noticed you passed me up on scale runner, but I admit I have been slacking on it, but it is definitely the best practice in the game to help you excel in finger coordination, and helps with just color recognition and keeps you sharp.

Scale runner is not unlocked yet for me. What do I have to do to unlock it?

If I recall correctly, scale runner is unlocked by qualifying 15 songs, and not by playing technique challenges.

Also mentions that here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/624516-r...ers?qid=299076, so I think that might be right.

Fed up with all the crashing, now I've reached 11, I started a new profile yesterday, after what must have been arond the 15th song qualified, I got Super Ducks unlocked, I've not done any of the games or challenges with this profile, only events, so I wonder if it's either something else that unlocks Scale Runner or it's completely random?

I think you need 5 more for scale runner.

Super Ducks* = Achieve "qualify" status for ten songs.
Scale Runner* = Achieve "qualify' status for fifteen songs.

This and I also have less time to play game since lot of my free time goes to guitar playing... Therefore I don t need to buy new 60$ xbox or ps3 games...
I intend to get all DLC too, I have most of it. I don't really have money to spare, but my thinking goes like this: I can either pay for guitar lessons, or I can get DLC. Rocksmith and DLC get me more music activity than I can handle and is less expensive. So I go for the DLCs. If I need help with a technique, music theory, or anything else, I go for you tube or this forum, or harmony central forum, or cakewalk forum... anyway... everything you need to learn is out there somehow. The rest is your own practice. 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration!

As for Rocksmith really working, I have no doubt about it. Not only I am a better guitar player than I have ever been since I started 30 years ago, but Rocksmith (and everything around it, and this forum (thank you guys!)) gave me the motivation to take my next step in terms of music. What I do with my spare time? Play Rocksmith, rehearse, and record songs!

OK guys! I was posting tongue in cheek there!

I definitely agree that RS DLC is a bargain for what you're getting. Really what slows me down buying DLC is 1) I still have songs from the original 51 that I haven't learned and 2) the XBL pseudo-currency system is sort of a pain - it's like being in a foreign country and having to exchange money every time you want to buy something.

15 would indeed appear to be the magic number

Qualified a couple more songs last night and got the notification that scale runner is now unlocked.

Got to say, it's a much more relaxing game this time around. Lots of low qualifying scores, so I can be a lot more relaxed playing the songs, definitely not having to work so hard at it, which I guess in itself shows me how much I've improved since I started. Even managed to get my first ever double encores and have now unlocked two of the songs
