Just this year I decided to make a serious attempt at weight loss. Over the years with many video games and college I had gained 50 lbs. I really was feeling down about life so i took it upon myself to start with something I really did have complete control over. I joined a local 24/7 gym and started going. It was a but rough at first but I found different ways to enjoy it. I would walk on the treadmill for an hour while reading or watching a show or movie. Sunday nights were my Walking Dead nights where I ran... in my mind away from zombies. At the beginning of January I weighed in at 236lbs and now I am at 210 lbs. Im going to check into the gym sometime soon with my trainer to see my body fat % and everything that she took when i first started. I hope nothing but the best in your endeavor Valkyrie and never get discouraged.

I understand you need to do this for yourself to feel better but I HAVE to say. You at 180 looks great, so only do this for you and not some sorry image our media pushes on women.

Thanks Alex, it means a lot that you actually posted on the forums for me <3 I love you girlie!

And Tgrey, thank YOU for your kind words. I'll be honest, when the doctor said my BMI hit the obese level I was floored as I don't feel that way at all. But fact is fact, even if I carry my weight well I am carrying an extra half person around with me lol. I TOTALLY appreciate your comments though as I am so apprehensive about my weight, so THANK YOU! <3

It's awesome you are sharing your journey!!

The timing is great - I am doing something similar, and have my first spinning class tomorrow...at 5:30am....I was about to not go, and then saw your post pop up on my FB feed.

So I'll go....maybe it'll go better if I think I'm biking away from Zombies?? I'm still trying to figure out what part of my DNA thought pre-dawn torture at the hands of a Y-instructor was a good idea....

Wow, very inspiring to see you (read you!) "coming out"!
I have to say I completely know how you feel!
Of course, I do less physical activities then when I was 10 years old, but I began put in some weight only at 25 years old (im now 33) My major problem was anxiety pills that make you take some weight. I never knew that and just continued eating like I always did. Boom... I have now as much as you to lose to get to my original self.
I am too on fitnesspal, and it's oh! so hard to keep under the calories allowed! WOW ! 10 days, no lost yet, and cheated only twice.

Keep on the work! I am sure you can do it!
