The first rule of secret squirrel club is that you don't talk about secret squirrel club!
Seriously, though, the songs they are referring to are the songs you unlock by getting a double encore. There are 6 of them. Rocksmith_Matt had posted awhile ago that to get an encore you have to score a combined total of 120% of the points you have in your event, and to get a double encore you need to get 90% of the notes of the encore and then you have a 50/50 chance of getting a double encore. The 50/50 part is something that not everyone things is really there, though. In practice, it seems you almost always get it if you did well enough on the encore.
There are also some bugs where if you remove songs from the event it doesn't reset the score needed for the encore. Also sometimes it seems some people get their game into a weird state where it won't give you encores even if you score well enough that it should.
Edit:
Forgot to add, the songs you unlock are:
- Six AM Salvation by Versus Them
- Ricochet by Brian Adam McCune
- Boss by Chris Lee
- Space Ostrich by Disonaur
- Jules by Seth Chapla
- The Star Spangled Banner by Seth Chapla
The first 5 seem to be randomly unlocked, but SSB always seems to be the last one to unlock.
cool, thanks
hey I have space ostrich...........hmmmm
I think I need to pay more attention
Glad this came up - I was wondering, anybody know if the 120% figure applies only to the set as a whole or do you have to get 120% for each song?
I ask because in my current event I 've got "Next Girl" with the intro segment locked and a qualifying score of something like 76,000, and I think without the "intro" and the 2 repeats of it midsong that would be very tight; whereas if the 120 is for the whole set it'll be easy and I might finally get the star-spangled banner.
Although - since you mention the 50/50 theory - I have the distinct but unconfirmed impression that encores alternate between easy and hard. Tonight I played 2 short events and in the first my first and only encore was "Keep Yourself Aive", a song I'd not so much as heard before, and it started off at a pretty high level even though I had taken all the recommend steps, set lowest difficulty etc. Then after my next event the first encore was Space Ostrich, and my only risk of not getting the 90% was due to there being barely 20 notes to play from start to finish. But I managed, and got a second encore - good Enough, single note, didint't freeze this time.
And I think i've noticed that hard/easy encore alternation before. In which case i'm due something tough next time. But maybe it's just coincidence.

The 120% is for the original set as a whole. So the best way to guarantee the first encore is to add a song--"Do You Remember" since it's easy to score a gajillion points with it.
My question, then, would be: 120% of WHAT? The minimum Q-scores totaled together? Or what?
Yes, in theory, but I have my doubts. 120% of a 90K qualifying score would be 108K...and a lot of songs just don't have that many points available NMM. Maybe it's 120% of the min RSP for the event. But I've always found adding a high-scoring song to the set made the encore all but a sure thing.
I understood it as needing to get 120% of the Event RSP total. But you also have to hit the minimum qualifying score for each song. So if, for example, the q-score on a song was 50k and you only get 49k during the event, you won't trigger an encore. Doesn't matter how many more points you get on other songs; ya gotta hit the min per song
At least that's how I thought it worked.
I'm pretty sure you don't have to get the qualifying score for each song, but I'm not 100%. I'm sure I've boofed individual songs before and still gotten the encore.
