Thread: Leveler inconcistency with number of notes that can be missed | Forums

Just one of those quirks. There have been more than a few times where a song won't level up during rehearsal. I'll go into RR and have them level up on the first try.

then there's the times where certain levels of progression are harder than higher levels. Those really tick me off. I've learned to give a section a few tries. After that, I increase to some higher level. Usually end up nailing it on the higher level.

Yep, sometimes they pad it out with too many different levels, where the 100% level is the same simple power chords moving up and down the fretboard, but at an intermediary level it has you constantly switching between the chord and single notes. kinda dumb.

just wanted to also bring up something that most people are aware of but haven't mentioned (as far as i know) --> the difference between accelerator and leveler involving notes missed.

for example, if you miss a handful notes on one section in accelerator, it'll quickly bring you to the "try again!"reset... but the very same section in leveler will allow you to miss nearly twice as many notes in some cases, before saying you missed too many notes. this makes it especially difficult to practice long solo's (sweet home alabama, chimney, star spangled banner, etc)-- as it resets you before you even get halfway into it if you miss too many notes.

it would be nice if there were no "forced reset" in the accelerator. in the same token i would prefer an option for a "forced reset" in the leveler-- simply because i hate leveling a section and not knowing if i missed too many notes or not...i rather just be cut off. what's the point of getting to the end of the section (in the leveler) if i already missed too many notes to "level up!" ? the goal is to level up the section-- the accelerator is where the goal is to practice. the way it currently works isn't really optimal for these goals. I understand that they are my own interpretation of imaginary goals, but I feel a lot of people would agree.

also, it would be nice if the accelerator allowed you to "level up" in terms of speed with the same ratio needed to pass the section in Leveler. as it stands now you have to hit 100% of the notes in order to "level up speed" in the accelerator-- the only exception being a detection glitch that allows you to miss the final note, yet still count as 100% accuracy. i'd at least enjoy an option to change that 100% requirement to the ratio needed in leveler. i understand that a "manual speed" option is coming, but to me the issue is knowing how much of the section i'll need to be able to hit to pass in the leveler. i also would like a "note accuracy" and "highest accuracy" displayed somewhere in the accelerator-- just like guitar hero / rock band.

sorry to bump up this thread; i thought it would fit better here than making an entirely new topic

    This. A million times this.

Don't get me wrong. I love this game. I love Accelerator. I don't love working hard to get a section to "100% Speed", then having to go back into Riff Repeater, select Leveler, re-tune, and hopefully play it perfectly again before it Levels Up. I would stay in Accelerator if I could Level Up from there. Same holds true for Free Speed. I would love to be able to Level Up from Free Speed as well.

I'm curious and hopeful that the upcoming patch will make my Riff Repeater dreams come true. I know they have promised manual speed adjustment. But I'm worried that is just in the Rehearse and Perform modes not in the various sections of Riff Repeater. We'll see.
