Hi everyone.
Before I get started, I am not here to complain or bad mouth Blacklist, that said...
What is up with the 'Splinter Cell Blacklist - First Gameplay Demo' ( Video Link ). Ubisoft have shown the action packed side of Blacklist but with little stealth gameplay, I am a little concerned that Ubisoft's focus is the gunning down of bad guys and violent cut scenes. Now don't get me wrong, I love the fluidity of the gameplay shown and it definitely looks to have a lot of potential but why isn't stealth the primary focus?
Splinter Cell has been thee stealth game many fans have come to love and to break that focus defeats the point.
Conviction had enough stealth based environment to get me through the game without me scrutinizing the game at all. The execution mechanic did in-fact impress me, since it allowed for more elaborate tactics and links in with that great fluidity. Being able to kill only two enemies consecutively was fair, however, I disagree with the ability to mark every single enemy especially when you could track their movement without the enemy in sight. Blacklist seems to allow you to kill 3 enemies consecutively and still gives you that mark to track enemies, which gives the player far too much freedom, you are no longer at odds with the enemy. I'm guessing it will be far too easy.
I must also question the reality of the missile displayed in the video. While it's cool to have such tools at your disposal, yet again it fails to tie in with the subtlety Sam Fisher is supposed to display.
As I said at the beginning, I'm not complaining or bad-mouthing Blacklist.. These are my concerns and it would be great to see more gameplay but in a much stealthy surrounding, I'd love to see how Ubisoft have progressed in this area. Please share your thoughts!
