I'm pretty Knowledgeable when it comes too Electronic beats.
What the heck is Dubstep?
Idk...I loved the soundtrack to the first game and CT. I think CT got that...technological warfare sound while the original game had a scarier overall theme to its music...like a very "dead of night" eerie feeling. CT's music is fantastic though haha
But who can forget this gem?
But seriously....listen to the music in the first game...
I wouldn't mind whoever did the first game collaborating with Amon Tobin...........they would make a killer sound track. some sounding like this..and then when action starts building kick in some of Tobin's stuff.
The part at 2:02 gives me shivers and chills. I love me some SAR. Best atmosphere of all the games, partly because they really spent time on the shadows and that feeling of being alone in very scary and real environments. Then the sequels became less about the light and shadow (obviously still there just not made as dramatic) sighhh haha
Michael McCann was involved in Double Agent, but to my knowledge most of it was Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan.
I recall reading that Jesper Kyd had a hand in some of Chaos Theory too.
Wait, what? Do you realize that Amon Tobin wrote only few tracks for Splinter:Cell Conviction: Menu Theme, Corridor Cue, Oval Office... also Coste, The most tracks of the soundtrack was written by Kaveh Cohen and Michael Nielsen!
And that's why Michael McCann freely distribute Double Agent soundtrack via his site.Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan wrote only few tracks for cinematic cut-scenes like this.
Jesper Kyd wrote all music for Chaos Theory cut-scenes. Also this Credits theme is his work too (by the way, there you can see that music was composed by Amon Tobin while cinematics were scored by Jesper Kyd),

Heres the 14 min battery soundtrack that I love soo much!
Also here Is another Amon Tobin song that is not from any game. But I really love it. It really sends shivers down my spine at one point. If you watch it you'll realize which part I'm talking about.
No one likes SAR's music :C haha
And EW! Battery -- I dislike the mission. Actually it's pretty fun but some parts were annoying/boring/weird. I do like when Sam interrogates the guard and the guard goes: "But I don't have any intelligence!"
And Sam replies, "Heh...you just called yourself stupid." or something along those lines (x
As to the title of this thread -- I don't think the game need Tobin -- it just needs someone who can produce not only an excellent soundtrack but can get a good mood for SC. All the games kind of had different music. SAR had very moody, eerie music; PT I think tried to sorta kindamimic the original music style, CT had Tobin's great electronicish feel to it that really fit with the theme of the game and the whole Masse Kernals and Dvorak thing; DA had a very Hollywood cinematic feel -- the beginning track in the Iceland opening cinematic sounds like it could be in some movie; C was kind of all over the place -- D-Ops, at least the first mission, had a similar style to SAR but there's that one CREEPY song that I remember playing that had like little kid vocals or SOMETHING I can't really even remember it but at the end little portion of the Airfield as well as having that other oddball song when Sam goes all Rambo at the end of Third Echelon HQ.
Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I viewed the music in each game...
