    Corrupting my PS3 hard drive?

Rock smith has been acting oddly as of later. The past two times I played RS I attempted the exact same song pattern. First, I played Breaking The Law (unmastered, combo1) as a warmup. This was followed by playing Unnatural selection, unmastered combo 1. Then something bizarre has happened both times. About halfway through Unnatural selection the backing track completely drops. I can hear my guitar and the note highway moves and scores my playing just fine, but there is no sound other than my processed guitar tone. Then, when I hit the song the screen goes black, entering the loading screen. I can see the little loading icon and though it keeps moving it hangs there doing nothing. I leave for 15 minutes and come back and it is still there. Deciding it had frozen during the saving process, I had to force reset my PS3 my holding the power button for a few seconds.

After the reboot my PS3 refuses to recognize disks. Any disks. Blu ray, PS3, DVD, PS2, etc. It won't recognize anything. Finally I go into the PS3 safe mode/debug boot menu and have to repair the hard drive, which as become corrupted. It is only after this is done that the issue subsides and I can recognize disks again.

Has anybody else had this issue? I haven't had it with any games other than rocksmith, strangely enough. It's making me really nervous about playing RS, since both times the fix took a while to finally get it right.

Haven't had to use safe mode for corrupted HD, but I'd recommend instead of hard booting the PS3, just eject the disc the next time RS freezes. The PS3 will exit RS and go to the Playstation XMB screen, then you can push the disc back in and relaunch RS.

I'd also create an additional profile on your PS3 and try playing RS with that profile, starting RS from scratch. If you don't want to add another profile, you could delete your game save (not game data, so you still keep your DLC loaded) and start RS from scratch. Experience has shown that once you reach RS level 6 or higher, the game save starts to get corrupted and the PS3 will begin to freeze more and more until it becomes unbearable. Starting from scratch is the best work-around when the freezing starts to occur after RS level 6. A new patch fix is supposed to be released with/at the same time as the Bass expansion pack, so hopefully this will fix the freezing in the future.

What i don't understand is why they are waiting until september to release the ps3 patch!? when both systems were having problems they didn't hesitate to fix it, but when only one is having hiccups they take their time! I actually haven't been playing like i used to! i used to come home from work and put 2 or 3 hours a day into playing but now i only bother to turn on the ps3 about every 3rd day! i just got fed up with the freezing! i haven't been able to finish an event performance in 3 weeks because of the freezing.

*Sorry about the rant you guys. I really like RS! I just had to get some of that off my chest!

having been a ticket RAGER myself a while ago 8( i dont think putting in a ticket is worth your time, they tested the game well before they released it im sure they know all about the little bugs and the few charts that are not charted correctly. i doubt very seriously they will hear anything new from us.

the only responce youll get from your ticket is (please stop asking for game tips ) LULZ

As an update for ya'll, it happened again today (I hadn't picked it up after fixing it). This time I played High and Dry and it crashed during Panic Switch right when the song was supposed to start. I'm done playing RS, it seems. Shame.

My ps3 has been showing its *** lately. It had needed to check for HD corruption quite often. I haven't ran into any other issues though. It simply does the check and I continue on. My problems as of late are due to heat though. I loaded an old RS save so it hasn't been freezing. Gets old having to re-level songs though.

September? Seriously? Guess I won't be playing it until then. Tabs for me until the fall. What a half rate job, I've never seen patches take so long on a game...ever.
