Thread: Driver SF PC - Nobody playing online | Forums

I'll explain it in a very simple way. Multiplayer (on PC) doesn't work AT ALL for about P of the players (including me) - every time I enter the multiplayer game crashes. And secondly, the matchmaking is awful, and I think retail version users and steam version users can't play together (the versions aren't the same - that's ubisoft fault). And most annoying of them all - they won't bother fixing it. I've been contacting them about the multiplayer issues a month since the release. that's really stupid.

I was thinking about buying other ubi games like Ghost Recon Future Soldier and AC3 but now I what I got for my money when I bought DSF (I got nothing but tons of problems), so I'm not gonna buy any of these games, even pirate them - pirates who downloaded DSF are getting exactly what I got for, the only difference is I paid for that and they didn't. how sad...

Yeah that's really annoying. But I don't think it's steam players who can't play against retail version users - I think it's something else. Because I've been playing against someone for a while and now we can't invite each other anymore and when we search for matches we never land in the same match. Eventually it will even create two new matches instead of putting us in one game. So it's something that seems to vary. Because, like I said, I was able to play against that person before.

On the other hand, there's some players who I know have the steam version and we can't play together either.

Have you thought of selling your copy and getting a new one? I think that would be your best chance. You'll probably loose some bucks, but hey at least you'd be able to play!

Also have you tried messing with various settings before entering the lobby? Like you know, the graphic settings or something, set it maybe to a smaller window and low quality, I mean, you never know. Even if it's not funny to play then, at least we know a bit more about the problem.

    What did you write dude?

Driver is and always was an amazing game. But Ubisoft, well.... Ubisoft is just Ubisoft. They are a very small brand and don't have much money, so it's hard to control everything and they can't for example affoard the very good people. Or even fix simple bugs because that would cost money, but they don't get this money back from anywhere (less bugs doesn't have to mean more people will buy the game). They first need to work their way up and make themselves a name, which isn't always easy. The dangerous thing here I think is that, after what I've read everywhere, they tarnished their name already, although it isn't their fault. When you are a small company, you don't have much possibilites/choices and you just HAVE to go this way sometimes. That's why I don't understand why people compare Ubisoft to EA or even Rockstar, imo these are in a complete different league.

If Ubisoft games sell better, then maybe in some years those problems will disappear. And after all, even if DSF has lots of bugs, I still bought it So don't hate the newbies - give them a chance first and support them!

Whaaaaat? Ubisoft is the second biggest independent publisher in the world- second only to EA. They're snapping up new IPs and developers almost as fast as EA in a race to gain the market majority. It's no coincidence that apart from the 3 major hardware publishers, EA and Ubisoft are the only companies with enough going on to have their own E3 press conferences. Ubisoft has an absolute ton of money, which is why people are fairly justifyably dissatisfied when they don't deliver small fixes, features and needed bug patches to their games. Like EA, Ubisoft releases games with an absolute bare-minimum of post-release support, which ticks off their customer base no end.
What the next DRIVER needs: Tighter, narrower streets for slower, more responsive cars as seen in D1,2,3. More 70s feel, possibly the entire game's setting. Keep 88mph top speed as the norm, with only bonus supercars going beyond. Get rid of Burnout as the default acceleration. Unlicensed Vehicles- so that they can be destroyed with explosions. On foot returning, with a version of shift as an unlockable. Weapons, with FPS controls like D3, only more polished. Hubcaps. Car underside pouncing. Offroad areas without invisible walls. All previous driver game cheats return plus a few surprises. All camera angles in D1 Film Director returning. Completely overhauled multiplayer, with virtually no 'boosting'. Finally, ability to play multiplayer offline, and with bots.

Failing that, D1 and 2 as fully emulated games unlockable within Driver 6.

Really? I thought it was a pretty small company. Well I don't know, it has this "small company" image or "amateur" image for me, BECAUSE they don't fix anything and don't seem to know how to handle anything at all. They lack some proffesionalism it seems

Also, actually I don't think money is what makes a big company or not, Rockstar I think are a "big" company somehow because they put out legendary games, and that's what their known for. And that's where their "King" or "God" image comes from. But when I think of Ubisoft, nothing really comes up to my mind except DSF with all the bugs now and Driver 76 on the PSP back in 2007. Well I must admit I don't know much about their games but I never really bothered to be honest

Yeah manoe sorry to get you wrong mate but Ubisoft is a very big company, but it doesnt matter if they're a big or small company - if I paid something I want to get this "something" I paid for - I paid $55 for that game - that extra $5 for MP CONTENT, and eventunally I didn't even get it, I like got a "free trial" - it worked for about a month and then stopped.. so what did I pay for? This is really not fair and in my opinion they should be sued in the name of many more players for not even caring about that
