As soon as I seen that co-op was announced for Far Cry 3, I was overloaded with joy, but I was watching the video for 4 player co-op, I noticed it seemed to be objective based missions. Is there not a free roam co-op version of the island? Can someone confirm if there is like a 2 player co-op free roam mode?

I too was confused here. Is it going to be 4 player Co-Op online or 2 player Co-Op splitscreen? I just don't get it, I really need some answers guys, thanks!
farcrygame on twitter said u can go off to any direction after finishing the mission , but in an interview they said 6 maps (6 missions)

When i saw the gameplay on E3 about the 4 CO - OP it seemed not really freeroaming, but just loose missions. The splitscreen could maybe a little bit free roam, but i think it will be a little bit the same like the 4 CO - OP. I really hope you still can wander in splitscreen but we will see. I really liked that they announced Splitscreen , and CO - OP. It seemed it was done by the gamedevelopers of the multiplayer. But what about the syringe animation? It liked he stabbed in mid air and helped the other guy.
yeah to clear things up for biohazard, online or LAN you can go up to 4 players on two systems. Local, (offline) you can go two player split screen.
However, I don't think the co-op will be free roam.

I like the sound of COOP - I liked Spec Ops mode on COD MW2 and this looks even better with 4 players and the coop challenges, sure will be a lot more fun - Looks a bit arcade orientated but it seems to work pretty well from the footage they have showed us.
As for COOP Challenges they could do a lot with these.
They have shown a video of a Sniper Challenge and rumor of a Jetski Race.
You could also imagine an ATV / Quad track with jumps to race around.
Maybe something like the old Combat Game on Atari all those years ago where you have armoured vehicles in a maze and have to take each other out.
A flying challenge.
I would also like to see an Obstacle Course type challenge with some climbing and jumping sections in a 4 player race.
Also a Shooting Range where targets pop up and you have to shoot them and they drop when hit - then you move closer with a different weapon and do the same - maybe similar to the target challenge on mercenaries.
They could just keep releasing those COOP Challenges because although they would become old in time they would still be fun.
One of the crappiest looking maps on FCIP with vehicles was actually quite addictive and crazy - the idea was to get to the top in a race, you could knock other players off but generally they mistimed the jumps anyhow - it was pretty hard, Something like that would work as a mini game.
I am very interested in the COOP Challenge mini games just to see how crazy they are.
The actual coop maps themselves will be ok and I am sure I will enjoy them a few times.
well, I wasn't exactly talking about split-screen, I play online, I meant just two player free roam on the island, but it seems there isn't a mode like that. Sigh...
