Rainbow Six Vegas 2 VS Patriots

Like many people on this forum, I still enjoy Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I think it's hands down THE best tactical shooter ever (yet) developed. It has the perfect blend of story, tactical options and freedom to tackle threats in different ways, HUGE variety of equipment, weapons and clothing options. Being able to truly create a custom character from head to toe is awesome. The games mechanics, cover modes and managing a squad are **** good. I don't understand how people are making comparisons to RV2 to Call of Duty....it's not even close?!?!? RV2 is such a much more robust game in terms of customizing characters, the variety of weapons, ability to equip silencers, commanding your squad, (which does pretty well when you get the hang of what to expect from them in terms of their AI) freedom to complete objectives and clear buildings different ways etc.

I actually enjoyed the campaign mode of RV2, and think the story was actually engaging and moved along at a decent pace. Honestly, I havent been able to finish BF3 or MW3 yet, because I sold BF3 after 2 weeks (man that game sucks) and I just plain lost interest in MW3.

Bottom line, if a game like RV2 is still entertaining after 4 years, and you can still play it over and over, and get a different experience every time, that's a successful game. I don't agree with those of you that are hating on Rv 1 and 2. I'm pretty impressed with that franchise and I hope Patriots follows along those lines. I for one know better than most that this is just a game, but in my opinion, as a guy who was an 11B in the Army, and now raids crack houses every other day in the dirty city, RV2 is a game that lets you use real life tactics with a squad successfully, and they did a great job with it. Sure the entries are limited in how far the squad members will execute or clear a room etc., enemy AI is a little intense and superhuman on veteran difficulty, but come on, there is NOTHING out there even close to RV2. It's a classic.

I think if UBISOFT were to polish and re-release Vegas 2 with updated graphics engine, the game would be a hit all over again exactly as it is!!! I'd pay 60.00 for the same game with up to date graphics. Heck, Microsoft did it with HALO, and RSV2 is by far a better game.

You should try doing stand-up comedy.

its people like the OP that is the reason why we will never see anything like the classic first three Rainbow Six games, because as I said before, its quite obvious that the OP is the kind "fan" Ubi Soft is paying any attention to. Its the kind of feedback they want to hear because its in line with their policy of dumbing their games down.

true game these days dont take nearly the skill needed to play older games. developers are more worried about pushing product threw the door rather than the quality games of old how long after vegas did vegas 2 come out
? and Advanced Warfighter or Advanced Warfighter 2, yet you continue to buy and by dumbing down the game they get more players in the end its all about $$$ these days

The OP is entitled to his opinion and shouldn't be ridiculed for it if you disagree. It's really not constructive to do so.

The Rainbow Six gang here on the forums are a good group, and I enjoy interacting with you all. Please don't resort to the kind of behavior that makes some of the other forums more unsavory.

Jesus! Look, I'm 37. I grew up on PC games, and played ALL of the RB6 games, and early Ghost Recon games. I had fun playing them. That was over 10 years ago. I don't enjoy those games anymore. They were good in their own right, for their time, but can't hold a candle to Rainbow Vegas 2. It's a superior game. I'm a huge fan of the original Operation Flashpoint on PC. I still play it, and it's more fun to me than any COD or BF game because of it's open world and endless choices of how to meet objectives. If that's how you feel about the older Rainbow Six games, hey that's cool too. My point is, in my experience, Vegas 2 is a little more realistic, a little faster paced, more fun, (to me) and I can relate to it considering what I do for a living. That's all. I know that most PC gamers have always griped about the shallowness of console titles, I agree for the most part, but I think Vegas 2, regardless of how much better it could be, it still was/is a great game.

Agree with OP. RSV2 was amazing. My buddies and I still play it when they come over to drink. We play it over MW3 anymore. Plus, Team Rainbow is certainly making a better and more compelling story, can easily accommodate most players' preferences, since 1st and 3rd person view was done on SOCOM 1, 2, and 3. All it is is letting the player select which camera to use, and those creating the servers could choose whether or not to allow 3rd person.

See I never played any others except V1 and V2, on their own I consider them to be slightly above average. The only reason I still have them though is simply because of split screen co op...

@Evil - please pass that bit along, its one of the biggest draws for me, and I presume for others as well. Hope Patriots doesn't cut us short!
