Thread: Running Far Cry in Very High Settings... | Forums

  1. #1
To run Far Cry with all the graphics settings turned to Very High in the Options, 4x AA, 16X AF, you will need a Radeon 9800 Pro or XT, Processors of 3.0 GHz, and 1024 DDR Ram...

Everybody knows that the FPS difference between Radeon 9700 Pro and Radeon 9800 Pro or XT in the games aren't so high(something like 5-10 FPS)! So, The same thing goes to the Processor thingy, 2.4 GHz has big FPS differences comparing to the 3.0 one???

And what are the graphicall game options that doesn't change the image quality and increases the FPS considerably?

    Thanks

these dumb posts about fps with what rig you have are just plain pointless... fps is good or bad depending on each persons perception of how well it performs.... some people think its awful to have a game running under 40 fps and others don't have a problem with a game running around 20 fps

radeon 9800 pro and 2.4GHz with 512 is all you really need. i always get 40-65 fps. Sometimes it might drop down to 25 but its still playable.

    ASUS P4XP-X Mobo
    ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
    Pentium 4 2.4GHz o/c'ed to 3.0
    512 mb DDR RAM(PC2100)

i have a 2200xp...9500pro overclocked..and a gig of ram. I play with everything on medium except enrironment on high (for grass ,birds, fish). Shadows on very high (for stencil shadows on weapons) and lighting on very high (kick *** polybump highlights). Like this the game looks incedible...you can see the polybump/slime on monsters..get all the great shadows and get birds/grass/fish...and yet still never go below 35 fps

    I got :

    AMD +2600 XP
    Ati Radeon 9700
    512MB 400MHz DDR
    Abit NF7-S nForce 2

and I can run it smoothly @ 1024x768 with everything set to 'very high', no AA, AF=1.
I would say I get like 30-50 fps mostly, at worst if there's lot of going on it can drop to about 20. Just got the new omega drivers last night (based on cat 4.3) have to try what those did.
Overall it really runs amazingly smooth considering the quality of the graphics. Best game engine today

    im running

    AMD 3000+
    1024MB 3200DDR
    9700pro

and everything runs sweet and smooth @ very high settings 1024x768.

some of you might want to try this

i took out my soundblaster live the other day and went back to onboard sound. EVERY game i have runs noticeably faster. here's an example.

on the research demo inside the cave, whenever i used the flashlight my fps used to drop quite a bit. now it dont drop half as much.
