    Here's the petition...

Thx. It is so hard to accept this change. I cant believe the developers can be so blind. If they really wanted to use that crap system, they should have just made Sam Fischer the head of the new agency and be the support in Labert's place. So you would be playing as a new agent listening to Ironside as Fischer over the microphone giving you tips and orders just like Lambert did with Sam.

But anyway, Ironside can still dub Fischer from his chair and do a better job than any fit action actor they put in there. There was option and Ubi picked the most stupid one.

Yeah, that seems to be the most popular idea going round.

There has been talk of Ironside being a bit reluctant to be involved as he doesn't agree with all the violence in the game.

If that were the case, I think Ubi should write Sam Fisher out of the game, obviously voiced by MI (preferably with a last mission or two), then introduce the new character played by Eric Johnson. That way, the fans could say goodbye to the character they'd grown up with, the continuity would be much better and they would then have free reign with the new character to take the game in whatever direction they choose.

or Ubi Toronto could take the hint that Splinter Cell was never a forwardly violent game, but that's what they've turned it in to.

I'm not going to sign a petition or anything, but this is a huge loss to the series. I know Ironside was apparently an arse about it a few years ago, but to do this is just silly. The Sam Fisher character should've been given Lambert's role, as leader of 3rd (or now, 4th) Echelon. That way, Ironside could've stayed on, and this new Eric guy, he could've been a brand new Splinter Cell character - a replacement for the ageing Sam.

Sam Fisher isn't as synonymous with Splinter Cell as say, Master Chief is to Halo - it's just that he's the most memorable character, and that's mainly down to his voice. So if anything, I'd be wanting a new Splinter Cell game to relegate Fisher to the role of Lambert, and let this new guy shine.

(PS, I say this as a massive fan of the series, and Ironside - my favourite games being Chaos Theory, and Chaos Theory 2 (Double Agent for Xbox 1).

I don't think Ubisoft would change his voice on purpose. Maybe Ironside got an exclusive contract somewhere else, or maybe he just got tired of doing this and refused another game. Anyway, I think Ubisoft should give us a excuse for that. I want to know why the voice changed.
I feel the same. Splinter Cell is never going to be the same without him.

I agree with everyone who will miss Ironside, and I also respectfully disagree with the reason for his removal as it relates to the mocap. Other games that have been majorly successful, such as the "Arkham" series, have made major waves through the video game world without that mocap voice work. But, it's worth pointing out that Michael Ironside has had two bouts with cancer, as has his wife. It's possible we may have been losing him (to retirement, not to heaven!) due to that soon.

Ironside will always define Sam and Splinter Cell to me. But, it appears we have to move on. I personally would have picked an older actor, but it wasn't my choice. I am excited to see what Ubi decides to put out and I will be putting my reserve down at Gamestop tomorrow.
