Thread: Splinter Cell Blacklist No Michael Ironside Petition Forum | Forums

Nobody knew this day would come. Noone ever imagined Ubisoft making a decision like this. For ten long years Ironside has been doing Sam Fisher's voice, and now all of a sudden they want to change that for the sake of better and more realistic gameplay. And frankly i can understand the decision to make a game more realistic and even the fact that Ironside is physically not fit for the task but there are so many options that could have been explored like, keep the voice acting and let someone like Eric Johnson do the physicall part. In Final Fantasy the Spirits within they also used mocap and added the voices later.

realist looking, far from realistic gameplay. I would be more than happy to let eric play the part of a new protag. I was kind of hoping they would introduce a new protagonist after conviction as long as sam could be a director
Today a young man on acid realized all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. We are all one conciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is but a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. -Bill Hicks

It's disrespectful. It's sad, yes - But there are some pretty harsh things going on in this thread.

I motion to have this locked.
    Shut up!

I agree with you that Eric could be a new protag. But Sam as the director of 4th Echelon, i dont know, doesnt seem like a job for him. Ubisoft should have retired Sam gracefully and handing the torch to Eric by introducing him as the new Splinter Cell agent. Sam also has Sarah and they just got but back together. He lost his best friend, knowing Sam he would choose to be with Sarah and try make something of their lives.

i agree with all the above, every time i hear mr ironside's voice i just think ' fisher ' i am a 47 yr old man and i have been playing splinter cell since day one of its release and have enjoyed them all very much, you cannot change his voice it must be against the law surely??? if you do not do something about this i challenge all at ubisoft to a bare knuckle fist fight.

It breaks my heart to see Splinter Cell moving so quickly in the wrong direction. Double Agent (360) was bad but at least Shanghai had the right IDEA! Now Splinter Cell is not even based on that same idea, thus we get a game merely labeled "Splinter Cell" that truly lacks everything that set the franchise apart. I remember not even having an Xbox but feeling so excited watching the Splinter Cell trailers on TV. I didn't get to play until after CT came out (that trailer was SO AWESOME) and played them all in sequence. There is no way anyone can be Sam besides Ironside. I have little faith in the game industry anymore. It seems like people are sheep saying everything looks super over-the-top. People are sheep, being herded by the paid pressers who get lots of $$$ to say games look good. It's true, someone posted on the forums telling people to be more vocal other places (social networking, youtube) because they obviously don't take the forums seriously. It seems like a lot of people have made their first posts about how sad Splinter Cell has become.

I always said I was keeping my 360 for Mass Effect and Splinter Cell. I didn't participate in Mass Effect 3 because of the footage I saw, I didn't have any desire to. Now it's looking like Splinter Cell is the last straw. No Ironside, no buy, and I will continue to not support your industry by not giving any of these companies my money.

    I dont get it

How is this hard for them to do? Use the new younger guy for all the MoCap stuff and then use Ironsides voice in post just like ILM would do. Is it a money issue or is Ironside just done with this type of project.

    Very disappointed

Sorry bud but I think it's a bit late for this. I gave up for this cause a long time ago and now just accept it. But at least Blacklist is coming to PS3!

Just because you gave up doesn't mean others have 2!

They could've at least gone with a more characteristic voice than Eric Johnson,he is too generic and high pitched.
