I'm really confused how to help consult for my friends/them to consult for me. When you ask someone to consult and there's the timer over the ward patient, how do they then finish the consult?

If there's a timer that means your friend can't finish the consultation until the timer counts down to zero, which means it's to your advantage to have a lot of colleagues to spread the work around. If you just have a couple of colleagues and you use them for consultations, it's going to be a while before you will be able to use them again. I hope this helps explain it.
