Unable to customized controls in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

I am using an XBox 360 wireless controller for PC.
I cannot customize the controller keys. All settings are grayed.
    What is wrong?

I exceed all game hardware requirements.

    Hello,
Can you post your Specs for us? Have you installed the driver for the controller and are you using DirectX 9.0?

Im having the same problem also, its terrible. AC1 and AC2 retail have same controls, then i got brotherhood on steam the controls are all over the place. Ive gotten so used to them RB for sprint etc is on the trigger, RB is now the inventory. Triggers for camera are now the directional. I cant play like this, I played for 30 mins. No more. All my controls are all greyed out and i cant change them. Has anyone tried the config file?

I am having this same problem with my Logitech Gamepad F310. I have Direct X 9.something higher than 0, and the controller drivers are installed. Just finished AC2 and would like to try to map the controller the same way because it causes less pain on my hands and wrists.
