Thread: Should the "Multiplayer Improvement Thread" return? | Forums

Question Should the "Multiplayer Improvement Thread" return?

    Hello people

For the newer people (or those who don't remember): After the release of Assassin's Creed Revelations there used to be a thread titled "The Multiplayer Improvement Thread" where people could submit ideas to improve the Multiplayer aspect of Assassin's Creed Revelations. The thread was removed on December 13th but without any notification about what it would be used for. After asking the mods, they replied the ideas were passed on to the development team who would look it through. The reply also mentioned that they were merely suggestions and they could be expected either very late in the same title or in the next one.

The thread held some amazing ideas, aside from the typical "I don't like this mechanic and neither must anyone else so it has to be removed" ideas, some were thought through and balanced. I think it's safe to say we will NOT see any of these ideas being implemented in Assassin's Creed Revelations due to the focus on Assassin's Creed III and the weak patching posibilities in Assassin's Creed Revelations (this means that ony a very limited amount of aspects can be altered through an update).

It will still be a while before Assassin's Creed III will be released, and so I ask if it's possible to re-open the thread, this time BEFORE the game is released. Doing so allows the ideas to be implemented during the production proces which gives much more freedom and flexibility than through a patch afterwards. Sure, there are plenty of 'idea' threads already, but none of them were started by moderators and also none of them will be passed onto the development team. Re-opening the thread could allow everyone who missed the opportunity to have another go. Those who've already participated might have more and better ideas which would all go to waste unless someone either brings the ideas to the development team, or brings the development team to the ideas. Either way, I see more and more people posting threads about mechanics and ideas and even though I encourage them to keep going, in the end I know nothing will happen because nobody who's associated with the production of Assassin's Creed III will read them.

The latter brings me to the next remark. What Ubisoft has on these forums are tons of experienced people working for free on new ideas that could improve the game drastically. It is on these forums that direct feedback from the customer can be received, along with the possibilities to improve the product in such a way it could attract even more. The moderators on these forums are only responsible for maintaining order. The Boycott that happened a few months ago clearly pointed out that none of the members of the development team visit these forums unless due to some rare occassion (in this case the boycott).
So what I was wondering: why not use this "huge brain" to improve your product. I studied some economics, barely enough to know anything about it, but I do know that customer feedback is vital in a company.

Sure, we may not know how to program or design a video game, but we all know too well how to play and enjoy them. And isn't that the goal of a game? To be played and enjoyed? Well then, why turn a deaf ear to the experts?

So I ask: re-open the ideas thread or make sure the development team does something with these forums. Because they're missing out on a lot...

Thanks if you actually read everything.

Your mistakes were twofold I'm afraid. You sprung your Tripwire without looking to see if the game you hunted, was the one you'd snare. And you sold me short... I'm no murderer. I'm an Assassin.
Oh, but you will have your reward for finding me. And don't think about running off without collecting. My blade is faster...or my name's not Emvidasch.

It was probably removed because they were tired of pretending they were paying any attention to it.

As you can tell from the state ACR's multiplayer has been in since day one (with smoke bomb getting MORE overpowered in every single patch), they haven't done ANYTHING for this game.

Did you read everything? The mods clearly said that the submitted ideas would be used for EITHER ACR or the next title. In other words, the fact that they've completely abandonned ACR is old news but the ideas might be seen in AC III. Since the production is still going on I submit the option of re-opening the thread BEFORE the game is released instead of afterwards. Why they closed it is to pass it on to the development team. That's all.

Guys guys guys. You're being pessimistic! If they abandoned us then they would have never replied to any of our questions, never fix any of the problems, and they would have stopped their awesome weekly updates. Didn't a team seperate from the team that made AC1 and AC2 work on ACB and ACR? What is that team doing now and what has the community manager UbiGabe done with the MP community? Don't get me wrong, Gabe is a pretty cool guy but I don't think I've ever seen anything from anyone at Ubi talk about the MP community.

Someone that is going to E3 will have to ask them. And when they still try to refuse you must commence in epic AC3 MP battle for an answer.

We'll see, but until then I'd like to see the thread re-opened. There is just too much talent here that's going down the drain. People come to these forums submitting ideas and hoping to improve the game. But if nobody listens then it's pretty much all for nothing and I'd hate to see that. That's pretty much what this thread is about. To stop pointless submitting of ideas. You had quite some ideas as well no? Wouldn't you like to see them implemented in AC III?

Yes I would but there are some ideas that came from you guys that I didn't and still don't like. The no smokebomb delay and the poison no stunnage. If Ubi were to listen to everyone we would have a pretty bad game. They need to find the right people to listen to. And another problem would be mabye someone's idea is somewhat good but flawed in a different way and Ubi puts it in not knowing the smokebomb would be used even more frequently as an OSB. I think squiddish had some awesome ideas a while back to fix the detection meter for you guys (I don't mind the RDM or any other DM that doesn't start at incog)

I would love to go to the E3 thing and OSB every developer I play with and sprint non stop whenever they get me as a target.

I think bringing back some kind of regular updates (doesn't even need to be weekly) would help more, personally.

The updates were awesome while they lasted.

In all honesty, I think that both the threads (ideas and updates) fall on deaf ears, what's the point? The ACB camraderie is gone, ACR bores people to death with OSB, Ubi doesn't care to make the MP franchise better, why do we bother if they don't? I don't want to hear their updates coz they don't have anything that would concern my gameplay experience. They don't want to hear my side of experience and how I think they could improve... so?

I don't even care if they do updates, I just wish they would ask for even ONE volunteer inside their company to go on these forums, make a specific topic, and ask how the experience is with things like:

    Ubisoft support
How many problems there are in the game
How well we feel Ubisoft has been reacting, do we think they're even listening, etc.
