Ok, there were 2 clear top contenders, each gaining over 40% of votes. Make your final selection. Winner gets implemented for next week - we'll need a quick community discussion on Sunday if option 2 is selected, to decide on 4 or 5 categories, and if they should keep the same names, be renamed as below, etc.
A reminder as to what each option entails:
Keep it the same, but remove expert MM as a song-selecting category.
Entries to the challenge would basically remain the same, but master mode entries would become a side contest, and that winner would no longer be in the weekly song selection rotation.
Create 4 (or 5) self-selecting categories.
Rather than being placed in categories by score, players would categorize themselves according to their ability levels. An example of how it might look:
- Division I: Can level most songs to 100%, and can play most songs proficiently - 95+% accuracy. Can master songs like Mean B!tch, Chimney, Good Enough etc.
- Division II: Can level several songs to 100%, may have trouble accurately playing them at that level. General accuracy 85-95%.
- Division III: May level some easier songs to 100, but others will be partially leveled. Regularly scores 70-95k. Can level songs like Song 2 single note, Go With The Flow combo, Angela, or chord arrangements to 100%.
- Division IV: New to guitar. No songs really leveled to 100%.
In this system, Master mode, note streak, and accuracy percentage are side competitions/honorable mentions, and do not count towards song selection rotation. They may be broken up by division if people want to take the time to do that - no promises (I would probably do it when I could though - I think it would be fun). If someone starts winning a division every week, by a lot, they could be asked/forced to move up. People can always participate in a level that they feel is above their skill level.
