I updated my video card driver already, I've run the game in compatibility mode for every windows operating system, with and without administrator mode. I've verified steam files, I've reinstalled 3 times, I've even launched the dx9 and dx10 versions of the game. Not a single thing has made a difference. It lods though the initial gigantic blue loading bar and then crashes immediately. "Assassins Creed Game has stopped working". Then windows does its fail troubleshooting.

Does this game work at all for anyone?
