Nostalgia Night - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2001

GhostRecon.net brought this to my attention, but I figured users here might appreciate it too. In the video, the author walks us through what made the original Ghost Recon such a great game, and touches on what has been lost in the GR games since then.

This is hands down my favourite game ever made.

    Enjoy!

Watched it, it was really good. Brings back memories. Ghost Recon 2001 was also the first game I made mods for, the M134 Minigun mod. It was also the first tactical 1 shot kill open world game I have ever played. Seriously, there are still aspects of that game that should be incorporated into the present ghost recon games.
Maker of the famed JN_Armoury M134 minigun mod for the first Ghost Recon game 11 years ago. I am back ghosts!

Hardcore FPS player? You aren't going to win with slow reaction and inaccurate shooting. Trying the FPS Reflex Training here! Highly recommended for above 30yo FPS gamers like myself!

I hadn't actually played the original Ghost Recon games, but wow.
    How far we've fallen, eh?

If you get that chance, pick it up an give it a play. Its still a great game today. I can't count the number of hours spent playing the multiplayer. So much fun.

Just about every aspect should be incorporated into it. Things that were superb at the time yet I don't think I've seen some of them since; 3 walk/run modes instead of just 2, peek system instead of cover system; 1 shot 1 kill; shot in leg = gimped; stand, crouch and prone all possible (too many games these days have no prone, like COD and BF).

Excellent little video and comments from the narrator like how OGR was a time when Ubisoft allowed the developer to just get on with it whereas now they interfere too much and have dragged the franchise down.

Wow, ...nostalgia, but seriously what he was saying about players wanting games where your character gets shoot in the face 10 times and still keeps going stems from a deep need to want to massacre and *****er the adversary with absolute impunity.
On a personal note; I've always play fps's on realistic settings.

    Same here.

With regards to the community nowadays, they just don't want a challenge it seems. That's why we get those kinds of shooters more than anything.
The market's largely composed of people who aren't really gamers and don't want to be really challenged. =/

Wow, makes you want to hunt down whoever decided to make GR:FS and pull off there arms.

Other than graphics, the new game is a huge step backwards in gaming compared to the original, in almost every aspect.

    ...what are they thinking.

    OGR > GRFS

GRFS is a poor PORT version from consoles.... wished they wouldn't released GRFS for PC, they are just ruining the franchise.
