Thread: Is there any reason to keep playing events? | Forums

Question Is there any reason to keep playing events?

    • all the extra songs have been unlocked in double encores incl SSB.
    • I have real life effects and amps so I don't so much care about the RS virtual stuff
    • I'm not a "score-wh*re" (as my girlfriend puts it), I use RS as a practice tool so who cares about RSP? (18M for the record.)
    • The events manager is now recycling small venues, so I assume I've seen them all (woo hoo).

Is there any reason to keep playing events?

The drop in frame rate is a little annoying, but what really grinds my gears is when the game selects a master-mode encore song that you mastered in a handful of plays November and haven't played since (A More Perfect Union combo most recently) and you can't recall a single note and have to stand there and guess and flub and watch the bored audience.

The only reason to keep playing events (unless you enjoy them) is they unlock the guitars. I'm always torn, because I really enjoy the events, but always getting a random MM encore does kill the fun for me, too. I really don't know what they were thinking when they equated unlocking MM with memorizing the song forever and ever. So, no: once the unlocks are unlocked, there's no reason to play events. I usually practice in the Perform mode, though, because I play better with my own personal army of clone groupies cheering me on.

I do. I just load up a bunch of my favorite songs. Then either kick back and enjoy it, or stand up and rock out!

I think it is a great way to spend a 1/2 hour or so.
I heard they's a man there pays folks money to sing into a can.

I'm not quite to the point where MM encores have become a problem - though I sympathize with everyone who has complained about them! So, I still enjoy the events. I tend to think even after I've unlocked everything there is to unlock (secret squirrel club songs, tones, guitars, achievements, 80s rock wigs, whatever) that I'll still enjoy events - even if I get a MM encore thrown at me. It's just the challenge of playing through a random selection of songs that I didn't have to pick out and the sheer laziness of not having to make my own setlist, I guess.

If you truly aren't worried about the score, why worry about the MM encore going badly? Just slog your way through it and move on is how I see it. You've got nothing to prove to anyone. It's not like bombing the MM encore is going to send you back to Local Headliner status or anything (is it?). And, eventually I expect Ubisoft will fix the MM encore thing (though given recent experiences on this forum I am not about to suggest how I think they should do that).

Short answer: The reason to keep playing events is that you enjoy them. If you don't enjoy them, don't play them.

I still play the events just to get some random songs thrown at me. I'll replace any songs that I can't stand, then my goal is to improve my high score on each song before playing the event.
