I thought I remembered seeing cloaked Recons as masked IR signatures, light blue blobs as opposed to gray.

Although, if you've ever used IR equipment/goggles and tried to recce a building with them you'd see that any heat signatures behind glass are completely obscured. I suppose that a good cloaking technology would use some kind of glass panels/fiber as an exterior to help block out heat signatures. It wouldn't be undetectable, and footsteps and the like would still leave a subtle heat trail.

Actually, now that I just ranted about IR and heat trails... That would be a cool feature to see when using HEAT. Faint heat emanating from the last few footsteps of all players, including cloaked Recon players.

As of most recent patches, it was basically a gray human-shaped object. You could definitely tell it was a human due to the contrast, but they did not have body glow at all. The cloak masked the IR signature to flat gray. From a Clancyverse standpoint, it would be feasible to believe that cloak also disables thermal detection, since that tech was available to Sam Fisher when he was still with 3E.

When you add a scope like the original BF3 IRNV to a game it makes all the other scopes inferior. You only use the other scopes until you unlock the IRNV, then you have everyone running around with IRNV.

Also, IRNV would be able to detect cloaked Recon's.... Lets screw with the ability and weapon balance even more!!!
Yes, it would be true that everyone would run around with the IRNV in the end. So they would have to add a negative drawback to using such a device... (drains your energy slowly, so your not constantly glued to the thing) There seem to be more cons then pros, if you really think about it. But the idea of the game being, your an elite soldier with high tech gadgets. and junk already. An Infrared scope isn't that far fetched. But in closing, I didn't really mean for anyone to take me seriously as it's off-topic of what the post was originally meant for.

So on-topic. Taser's don't work 100% of the time, I will vouch on this. I've had to deploy over 20 something cartridges on the job. And if you have a hostile subject, thick clothing i.e. Body Armor or a thick hoody, or the probes aren't spread far enough apart on the body, due to proximity when deploying the taser. Sometimes, one probe will stick into the subject and you have to make a drive stun to complete connection . Tasers imo is a "last resort" if your going to Taser someone, they've made it so high up on the force continuum, you've almost warranted "Deadly force". Again this is my approach. I like using "DT" and brachial stuns" to get the job done.

I would not mind a drive stun to replace the current melee. That, and I do know that LE tasers are now getting the three-shot treatment in case the first one doesn't work.

    "Grenade" Substitution for Recon

    Sonic Grenade MK1

    Damage: 0
    Ammo: 2
    AOE: 5feet
Cost to Buy From Store: 225 Requesition Points

Effect: The grenade explodes upon touching a surface. It releases a small ping that detects all enemies within 5 feet. In order to know if you are detected by a sonic grenade, you will see that your HUD has distorted a bit, much like a subtle static.

    ---

    Sonic Grenade MK2

    Damage: 5
    Ammo: 1
    AOE: 7.5feet
Cost to Buy From Store: 300 Requesition Points

Effect: A much more enhanced version of the Sonic MK1, the MK2 releases a much more powerful blast that damages ears into ringing, greatly distorting HUD, and revealing to allies. With this, there can only be one grenade per life. The grenade is also a 3 second timer.

(Does not affect firing at all.)

If your referring to the "Taser X3 ECD" then it's mostly for crowd control (more than 1 suspect). If you fire 1 taser cartridge and it doesn't take and you fire another and it doesn't take, your third one is going to piss the subject off and your SGT. LOL!! You hear it all the time, those g*d**** things aren't cheap, wtf did you have to use 3 of them for, and you still had to go hands on, Jesus.... You get the point. It's no good. And one helluva report. To show your use of force was justified.

As for melee. I agree. We need a knife, taser stun or just plain olde haymaker style like we have, but improved.

Well, Tasers were used with great effectiveness in SWAT 4. They implemented a two-pronged taser and drive stun that allowed me to take down and arrest... 4 people alone? :P Worth 20 points as opposed to shooting 4 people for 4 points.
