It looks to me that the awkward lighting is carrying over to FC3. You know, how everything is kind of white washed, even in the dark. It leaves everything kind of flat looking, especially on the characters. Maybe I am crazy....
No, You're not alone. But that has kind of disappeared in the new gameplay. (Burning building, ransom, etc.) The gameplay trailer had HORRIBLE lighting issues. The water also looked like crap. But keep in mind, it's all pre-alpha build so I don't think there's anything to worry about.![]()

i dont have a problem with how it looks so far. and u have to know that this are all YT videos. u cant compare it to the picture on TV or PC. i know that cause i capture gameplays myself
That whole idea of Youtube quality and real gameplay quality is hogwash. I mean, it is true, but just comparing some parts of the gameplay trailer to other gameplay of other games on Youtube, there's obviously something amiss.

Im just saying that FC2 on PS3 (on my PC it aint as bad set to ultra high) falls flat in lighting, drawing from the depth and realism compared to other games. I saw the first trailers for FC3 and it looked like the same lighting engine which scared me. LIL MORTA is right though, the new burning house footage seems better. Hopefully they will tweek the lighting. I think that will make all the difference in how the graphics are. Do away with dynamic weather and TOD and optimize and pre-render the shadows. This would make it look WAY better and speed the game up. If anything, dynamic weather and TOD piss me off, because I try to set it exactly to set the mood, but if it changes, the mood and feel of the map arent right.
Bear in mind that to date only PC footage has been published. But be confident that consoles will be pushed to their limits.
And what that all boils down to is 'how efficient is any given engine on a console'? Cryengine2 or 3? Dunia 1 or 2? Frostbite in any format? Dunia had serious lag issues on FC2, but from what Ive read, it seems that the newly revised Dunia should have better framerates since most items will automatically have built in occlusion. That right there should be HUGE, and maybe afford them more in the lighting budget. Guess well learn more soon......E3 babeeeeee
