Possible Splinter Cell 6 info in GRFS.

    Slight spoiler, for GRFS follows.

Playing through the campaign, on the third mission, in Nigeria. Mission briefing states that:

"... There's been a lot of activity in the Niger Delta recently. Turns out, the CIA already had an asset in country, to monitor a PMC operating in the region... Watchgate says they're providing security for oil companies, but it looks like that's not all they're up to...."

Could it be our beloved Sam Fisher operating in Nigeria? An "asset" doesn't mean someone directly connected to the CIA, but could just be someone on the ground, who is gathering intel that is making it's way to the CIA, by other means - Like Third Echelon, for example.

Post here, as you guys play, for any other *possible* Splinter Cell references, or references to other TC games. We know that the Clancy universe is well traversed, within itself. There is no doubt in my mind that we will see a link between franchises again, given the already apparent similarities between GRFS, and "Broken Arrow" (missing nuke), that was accidentally leaked, with SC6.

Dunno about Sam, the asset is someone else. I did think it could be a connection to SC though, for a second. Who knows.

How about the Under Armor ad placement? Is that a first? Not that it bothered me.

I'm liking the Campaign but I do wonder how much versatility will be available for replay. Doesn't seem to be a lot of ways to do the missions. I wonder if the meat of the game might not be in the MP and Guerilla modes...he says, with a big 2 hours in to it.
I AM enjoying the energy of it though, there's something very satisfying about how it plays.

I noticed that too and thought about an SC tie in.

I am glad I just rented this game. Too much forced action and the stealth is decent but not as sand boxy as I would like. There were a few good segments so far (I am just at the snow level) but the on rails stuff is boring and like I said before too much forced action. I wish you could play the whole thing without firing a shot, save for objective kills. Now that would truly be "ghostly". Oh well, still enjoying it as a two dollar redbox rental (well I suppose four dollars by tomorrow, still worth it).

    Michael Ironside is Sam Fisher!

^ I think you have to play all the modes to get the full value. If I had to pick one mode that wins out as best mode, I think I would pick the MP. Enjoying the whole package myself. Very nice mixture of play styles, not a 'one size fits all' approach.

Got a cool SCC exclusive camo for my guns, bit of fan reward there, which I appreciated.

    Good game.

There is a lot of content in the game. So many unlocks and the weapon customization is just insane. I was playing co-op with a friend last night, and we almost spent longer prepping our gear than actually playing - and in a GOOD way. I love customization so much - the SCC camo is a fun addition.

I can't wait to see if there are more possible SC6 links.

I'm on the third mission now, and nothing about "Megiddo" per se, so far. Like I said about the plot - even though it's sort of non-original, it still unfolds in intelligent ways. Like a VIP extraction, who gives up names, and linking names to other illegal arms dealings around the world. NOT original, but still interesting, IMO. Regardless, linking the stories into all TC games would be a great thing for fans of each series, who want to take in all areas of "the battle".

I'm really trying to take my time with GRFS, and not blow through the campaign in 1-2 days. But there is so much meat on the GRFS plate - I can only hope SC6 has the same amount of content

Edit: The SCC camo is black, with the yellow 3E logo plastered all over. I'll get you a picture tonight, if nobody else beats me to it.

    I don't think it's a reference to Splinter Cell.

If it was, it would be a lot more overt like namedropping. Not vague references to CIA assets.

Pffft...if Sam Fisher was in Nigeria, the Ghost would find an empty camp, the guards with all their necks broken or shot in the head and no sign of Makaba.
