    This is why I NEVER assume people have enough knowledge to adjust their truss rod.

    Nick, if you're at +22 and tuning to E standard, you are WAY TOO TIGHT. If it's +22 and you're tuning to drop-D, then just loosen it up. A little advise, go past the note you're tuning to as you tune down so that you are in the minus. Then tug your string a little to take out any slack. Then tune up to the note.

    Yeah it was obvious, some people just like to point out that if they keep cutting and cutting, it still might be to short.

    Thanks for trying to help but I am aware that I need to loosen the string but my guitar won't loosen to a drop D.
    For the record, I have not been trying to tighten the E string. If you guys were to read a few posts before mine then you would understand what I was saying.

    So, why wont your guitar low E string loosen? It stays the same tension with the tuning machine loose? Or do you seem to not be able to find "D"?
