I am sadly-awed by the amount of whining on the GRFS forums. So much unnecessary angst... I think we need to schedule a group-hug... virtual, of course.

I've been playing Ghost Recon since it first hit the market. The series has been my favorite of the shooter-games, hands down. GR has never been a "follow me through the movie"-type of scripted game with "do it now"-prompts to guide you through... like MW or COD. It has always been a tactics-based game with a large-degree of freedom to explore the map, locate the enemy and come up with a plan of attack to secure the objective. The use of artificial intelligence has continually-progressed with each version, giving an ever-increasing amount of control over your team. While the AI has never been perfect, I have embraced the capabilities and limitations for their collective-ability to develop my tactical decision-making-process in accordance with the design of the game. You see, I am an older, ex-Army soldier and a combat vet. GR is a game. But it is also a "combat simulator" that is a good tactical-thinking-stimulator. When I play MW or COD, I don't have to think. The game will tell me what to do so I can watch the next movie clip... kind of a Pavlovian reward, I guess.

With that noted, I am excited about the "potentials" for the new release and the "clan-play" option. I have been wholly-impressed with the GRO closed-beta, regardless of bugs and glitches. I find it petty that there is such a volume of nonconstructive criticism being posted with complete disregard to the amount of effort it takes to produce a game of this magnitude - seriously. Again, this isn't a "movie game". It is a free-to-roam environment. It has to take a greater-amount of effort and resources to produce than MW or COD. And no, I do not work for UBI or any associated-parties. I just play the game.

As for the blah-blah-blah about coops, match making and team sizes, I concur with Cortexian - GRFS is a different animal. Give it a chance and accept it for what it is. And as AMWiedzmin89HUN said, the game just released... take a breath and chill.

My last bit... A simple question...

Will the 4-team play be platform-restricted, or will PC-players be able to team up with Xbox and PS3? Not sure if this has been covered on the forums... too much whining and blah-blah to filter through, at the moment.

Funny, I scanned your post and saw what I consider a lot of "blah-blah-blah" in it. In general, my first thought scanning through your post is that your trolling, actually.

Asking a question and expecting an answer is not whining.

Stating a fact is not whining.

Speaking of questions, so....you were in the "GRO closed-beta"? And? GRO is a different game than GRFS, which is what your commenting on........

Hard for us to comment on a game none of us have played for PC. GRO is the only thing we've gotten, and as far as I'm concerned, the best "insult" to PC gamers we could have hoped for if GRFS is bad.

I'm really not angry with anyone. Freedom of speech on forums is an awesome thing. I wish the game the best and I hope a ton of folks have fun playing it........but.....I do believe PC gamers that have supported the GR games deserve more. Probably the best gaming company for us right now is EA. They fully support PC gamers with games like BFBC 2 and BF 3 and now and upcoming Medal of Honor game. All have dedicated servers and they listen to their PC gamers and have constant patch updates.

If you played all the GR games like I have, did you notice on the last 2 versions the lack of support? A dedicated server file in the last 2 games that needed an entire game server to run it.......hence server companies wanted $100 to run the game.

Did you play the Rainbow Six series created by UBI and witness the support. Last 2 Vegas series had none.

    Thanks for listening

I have never really gotten into online play. I did try it with Armored Fist 3... way back when. But it was very limited. I have never played any GR games online. So the current closed-beta is my first try with it. I did notice bugs in the GRAWs that were annoying - like corruption of the saved game file so one of your team member was bent like an "L" with torso facing up in the air... couldn't move or do anything. And I tried Rainbow Six (first version), but didn't get into it. I like the the field ops and urban terrain... not just clearing rooms and halls. So I've gravitated towards the GR series. Thus, I can't say I've been troubled by limited support or online issues.

As far as "freedom of speech", I'm all for it. But incessant complaints about a product that hasn't even been released (PC version) and that "fact" that it will die fast because the team matches will only be 6v6... Well, I think its kind of weak - reminds me too much of the "rumor mill" that creates undue chaos in the military. And my tax payer-purchased instinct is to make an effort to quell it. All I'm saying to the nay-sayers is to take off the "chicken little" costume and wait for the sky to fall. Then you can bash all you want. Until then, such statements are only slanderous and inflammatory (my opinion).

Regarding the blah-blah-blah, I had to laugh at the accusation of trolling. Seems that if anyone says something positive, they must be a dev or tied to UBI. And if they bash, they must be working for a competitor (or stopped their psych meds)... both being trolls, as some would say. Guess you can't win, either way... Can I have my meds now?

Im just making an observation. I dont see alot of complaints. Just lack of interest. For a title long time coming from UBI shouldnt the forums be flooded by now? Mp is where the fun is at. Most clans have more than 6 members. Why would anyone want to rent a server(cost) for such small numbers. I predict the game will be dead by Oct. Bargain bin in a month.Just my 2 cents.

One game can make it without dedicated servers........COD MW3.........and I believe that it because of the huge following and the multi million marketing campaigns they set up. With that said.....the lagfest in some games with the peer to peer is horrible. Your gameplay really is decided on the current host that you have or if other players are lagging out. Peer to Peer will never work great for PC gamers!

I do agree that what keeps a game alive is the MP. With lack of interest in MP.....game dies quickly.

No disrespect...........hard for you to comment if you have not played a game on a peer to peer network like is about to happen with GR. It is horrible gameplay. These are comments that hopefully will be read by game developers so change will take place.

Gamers could sit back and never make comments and just pay $49.95......not like the game.....delete it and move on. This is not a rumor mill. I played the beta......I have read every development about the game.....and have made comments.

    Enjoy your meds.

No dispect taken. Yes, I admit that I'm not qualified to assess the quality of the peer to peer. I'm OK with that and not ashamed to acknowledge it, as I did. I thought the multiplay beta was on the consoles only - not PC. So who can tell us that the PC multiplayer will be just as bad as the console betas? Did UBI actually beta the PC version? Isn't that the topic of this thread... PC???

Comments vs rumor - If you are participating in the beta tests and noting the good and bad aspects of play, bugs, glitches, etc, and offering constructive feedback such as proposing a fix or change, that's good. It may help improve the game, assuming the devs pay attention and can act on it. If someone is making a "factual" statement or infers the product will flop without ever having tested or touched the game, I would call that rumor. I don't see the rant on 6v6 being presented fairly...

"oh this game is gonna tank on pc so hard because of lack of pc specific features.... doubt we'll see anymore GRs on pc after this mess. except for the MEH at best gro"...

"Even Rainbow 6 games like I played back in the day had 8vs8. IF its 6vs6 there will be litle or no interest in this game. Itll be dead in less than 6 months on PC. Good luck finding a server"...

"no matchingmaking for coop or guerilla. >_>... and no dedicated servers for MP = fail"...

Yes, there are some well-presented opinions that note potential problems with the game. I have no issue with them. In fact, I applaud them. However, the comments from this thread that I've noted above, as examples, lack utility, in my opinion. But that's just my opinion. And before someone discredits my qualifications to make these comments, I will again acknowledge that I'm not experienced with multiplayer-online gaming, other than the GRO closed beta (which is another game, I know... sorry to type a related-game title on the GRFS PC multiplayer thread). However, if you actually read my comments, you will see that I'm not making claims about the number of heads on a team or the play-ability of the game. What I am saying - and have been saying - is that the game hasn't been released yet. Making comments like those above based on assumption is not good stewardship of "freedom of speech". Sure, you have the right. But the message and intent is lost in the whining... unless whining is the message. Then, I would say, the message was well-communicated...

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 PC has dedictaed servers, you can set up your own server, no third party hosts required, you have full control. As Activision/Devs have said, public is for progression and private is for control. We have yet to see what GRFS PC has to offer, but it looks like GRFS PC will have Ubisoft's matchmaking (aka dating channel, hahaha!).
