Read through MOST of the article and I'm actually impressed.
Here I thought that matchmaking was some cruel mistress that liked to mess with me constantly! When infact that every player has been TRAINING the matchmaking.
I feel like this explains a lot, and until we can get more players to actually diversify it we won't get perfect matches quite yet.
*logs onto GRO to train and tame the matchmaking* awww, it is still down (I think, considering I'm not at my main computer)

So I guess this explains why I got put against Pink a lot (before running with a constant FT).
Though I do wonder if it accounts for fireteams, is it each player individually? Or the average of the FT? Is that the cause of the people getting kicked from 4man FTs?

A very good article on the matchmaking system GRO uses.

To my knowledge, the matchmaker first tries to match fireteams to other fireteams. Since this is the case I would assume that the members in the fireteam all have individualized ratings in this system, which are then combined into a "fireteam score". The matchmaker probably TRIES to then find another fireteam with a similar score to match you against. This is pure speculation though as it's not covered in the article. It would explain why certain fireteam compositions always seem to be matched against each other however.

That said, due to the lack of players in the closed beta phases so far it's difficult to really judge the matchmaking performance. The article does a very good job of acknowledging this issue and I wish more people would read and understand how the system works before saying "matchmaker sucks, etc".

After reading this, I'm going to take the fact that I get matched vs the better players ingame in almost every match as a compliment. If you have something to say, just don't. Let me have this.
