Ghost Recon Online has gone far beyond the idiot kid brother it was made out to be. It is by far one of the best run free-to-play shooters I have ever played, with an excellent cash shop model. Please don't drag GRO into the fight, we're perfectly happy, if not ecstatic, with the effort the development team actually has shown in listening to our concerns.

Well, in all fairness, the subject of piracy is broached by the GRO dev interviewed in the article posted by the OP (not that I really understand the point garethbah92 is trying to make...)
I'd just like to reinforce my fellow GRO soldier Compassghost's point; it is indeed a shining example of how to organise an online tac-shooter.
A developer addressing the issue of piracy is different from some of the verbiage by the OP before I edited it.

I would like to just say that as a GRO beta tester, the game is superb. It's by far the best free to play shooter I've ever played and it's even better than some of the retail games I've played. Ubisoft has really outdone themselves with GRO. Heck, they're using a new matchmaking system that actually does its best to match players so that they have "fun" instead of based PURELY on skill. There's a good article about it here:

Also, just so you know OP; There is still going to be a PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. It will simply be released at a later date. which is likely due more to the fact that Ubisoft has to spend time making the game work on PC. I game that I remind you, was originally intended just for consoles.
