Hey! I'm just here to say a few words about Iranian culture in Prince of Persia. For those who already knew it, or noticed and looked for it, there are references to Zoroastrian culture since the Sands of Time: Zurvan is the name of the God of Time in Zoroastrian religion, and the Dahaka is an evil creature corrupted by Ahriman (the same Ahriman than the PoP 2008 one!), and some attack of the prince, in Warrior Within, and even weapons, are called after Zoroastrian gods. You can look for it: You'll find Mithra, Airyaman, Ohrmazd, Ahriman, and maybe some others which I forgot. In the Two Thrones, the link between Zurvan and the Zoroastrian god of time becomes so obvious it's big like a house. But we also have a reference to Zoroastrian way of thinking, about the fact that a person could chose to be either god or bad (which is why sometimes the prince turns into this horrible wraith so-called Dark prince). And well, when it comes to Prince of Persia 2008, which is as far as I'm concerned a MARVEL OF SHEER PERFECTION AND A TRUE PIECE OF ART, the references are everywhere (Achemenes was also a king, but we don't know if he did exist or not, and the necklace Elika has around her neck is a representation of the soul in Zoroastrian religion, which is still alive/ i'm not so sure about this part, but it must be something like that).
Now just a word about arabic an Iranian culture mixing: we can't really part them for Arabic culture is an evolution of the persian culture. Thanks to Darius the 1st, mainly, who invaded a huge area of the Arabic peninsula. Which is why we can say we are different, but not that much. For instance, the ancient Babylonian god of the sun was called "Shamash", and in arabic, the sun is called "shams", we arabic and persian are related, culturally and blood-related, you can't fight it. We had our great time of glory, which is now gone unfortunately, we parted, but we still have many things in common.
Hope I brought some lights to you guys,
Greetings from France!

Thank you so much for this post Nosfeante, I'm amazed for your knowledge about history and cultureyou've tell us a lot of new and unespected things, like the detail of Elika's necklace... amazing. I only knew about the Dahaka and the major zoroastrian deity like Ahura Mazda (also knows as Ormazd) and Ahriman, but nothing else. I really would like to learn more
