hmm... square enix is usually a million times flashier and prettier than any other game developers since they pride themselves in pushing the boundaries on graphics in both their films and games... hard to say if that's what everything else will live up to. still... it's promising.

I've heard rumors that bge2 might still be released for the current gen of consoles . And these screenshots don't really look very "next-gen" (don't get me wrong though, I'm crazy excited !)
Buuut then again I think those really were just rumors and it seems far more likely that itll be released for next-gen consoles . Also it kind of does look like a wii u game would . But I'm expecting sonys and microsofts next console to be alot more powerful than the wii u ..
maaybe bge2 will be wii u exclusive .. But yeah I guess it's way too early to make such assumptions :P

Even though Ancel said current console hardware is limited, "needs more tech" could mean improving the software development through technology, not necessarily hardware. If Ancel is targeting a 2013 release, he might be trying to make the sequel work for current gen. He's experimenting with multiple platforms (current and future), so the platforms are not definitive.
I think rather this matter should be left with the game and its developer itself, because this thing totally depends upon the designers, however they also know about the things which will be required to make the game appropriate for the next generation consoles. Expecting too much from anything turn the things off if it doesn't shows up as expected.

Have you played it and never liked it, or never played it? If it's the latter, Dom, you've been missing out. That game is amazing on so many levels! It's:
- Cinematic: the motion capture is done very well.
- Open world.
- Amazing level design: clever ways of accessing areas that are restricted(side roots). It even affects how you make moral choices.
- Roleplay: the dialogue used it constructed very well,
- Customisation: Weapon customisation is ridiculous, because there's so many options.
- So many, "Augmentations" to enhance gameplay and suit your style of play, can be played all guns blazing or mostly stealth. Transferable cover
To some it up, it's a truly unique experience, this game is well thought out.
One thing I liked about the original is that although it kinda looked like a cartoony more youth orientated game it actually had very mature subject matter which gave the story and characters depth. I think Beyond Good & Evil 2 can make a leap forward in graphics but I don't think it should try and be photo-realistic. I mean, your sidekick is a walking talking pig and most Hillians are half animal, doesn't exactly lend itself to "realism." Too, we're use to Jade & Co. looking a certain way, I dunno...Is the voice actress who did Jade even around doing voice work anymore? Different look and voice and well you don't have Jade any more.
My biggest fear, aside from BG&E2 being the new Duke Nuke'm Forever, is that the developers are going to make it "darker." Darker because apparently you can't make a video game sequel these days without making it with X amount of gratuitous violence, gore, disturbingly sad storyline, anti-hero, blah-bah-blah.
I'm afriad this game isnt going to be the same game we know sadly. Jade looks like a ****ing hobo. they made it a too realistic.
And gameplay seems more like assasin game then the old beyond good and evil. I dont have my hopes up for this game. Everything ive seen is disappointing.
