FOr the record, 40K RP is like 50 hours of gameplay with no bonuses. That or $10, fair trade. An hour or two at a job vs endless grinding. $20+ and then worrisome.

TBH I'm going to give future soldier a go before I spend any money on this game.
If these prices still hold to be final, then it's better than I had expected.

For a free to play game....$100 is alot to spend in my opinion. If a free game costs more than any normal PC game...how is that good? If you spend $50-60 dollars you should be able to unlock everything in the game in my opinion. Obviously if you buy everything in the game and get to max rank...you have put in alot of time but how much fun is left at that point? Nothing left to unlock besides achievments. Playing alot to earn guns/loot is more fun than just buying it in my opinion, but if I put in alot of hours and still didn't have enough to buy the BIG guns..I wouldn't mind sinking in $10 or something but not $60 or more....yikes. So personally I think ghost coins should be reworked. If you can earn 1000rp points in a few hours, make GC be like $1 = 1000 not 675. I figured even $1 of real money was going to be at least 1000, guess i was wrong.
Time value of money.
In free-2-play games you are able to push the cost of the game off towards a later date (that is if you plan to spend money on it).
With retailed games, you must pay the upfront cost and there's no way to mitigate that cost over time.
Plus, sometimes it's far easier to spare $5 at say 20 different points in time rather than $50-60 at once.

The problem is....how do you know how successful the game is going to be? If it's not...did you spend money for nothing? I hope this isn't a Company of Heroes online debacle.
Company of Heroes was in quite a different situation.
CoH is an RTS game where most people are unfamiliar or disfavor it.
GRO is much easier in comparison to CoH.
Plus when you ask people about Company of Heroes they'll ask, "what's that?" Considering that the most amount of CoH players on one given day was just above 12,000 players... yeah, not too many people know about it.
When you bring up Ghost Recon, they'll be more likely to identify the franchise.

Well...it was the RTS 2006 game of the year. Then when they improved the interface for the online version, they were charging money for their version of real money....however...it was technically still calling itself a beta.....DOH. So when it tanked....people left the entire franchise all together, me included because hardly anyone wanted to go back to the old COH vanilla. Also...there were rampant fog of war hacks so the game was pointless. Cheating was so bad once they announced the end of the free version, that they would cheat without even TRYING to hide it....it was ridiculous.
I'm hearing rumors of COH 2, but nothing concrete about it. PLus...yea FPS games are more popular than RTS games. RTS games seem to have a very limited gamer mindset. You either like them, or you simply don't play them. They are always PC only.....and if they are on the consoles...they usually suck hard.
COH was the absolute longest game I've ever played in my life though...it was really that fun...until the end.
If they had invested proper time into updates and balance issues as much as Ubisoft does....or other companies the game could have still been going strong. I think the last patch took about 1-2 years to come out, LOL. And even after it did....you could still cheat. Ridiculous....
So I was comparing this game to that...only because if you spend money...real money and it fails...that's just gonna suck. Even if you spend $5 on ghost coins and it goes under....since it's online only....it's got NO replay value alone because if it dies...so does everything. I could see playing this until Bioshock 3 comes out at least. Beating that...then coming back to this. I could see playing this for a long, long time honestly....there are no other better shooters out at the moment that are free....not that I know of.
CoH 2 is no rumor. It's in development.

Yea, I know it is...but aside from being in dev mode.... there's no release date even mentioned so as of now, there's nothing to look forward to anytime soon.
