Ubisoft, the games are great and the approach is solid, but the marketing/social outreach aspect of it kills everything. It's parallel to the user experience. If CoD has you beat on the gameplay, yes, you can retaliate, but you won't be able to show that swagger unless you have a solid ecosystem for the gamers. User experience, your site, your community outreach, your tournaments, broadcasting... it needs to happen. Not Coco.
    . 100% This^^

Thats why Apple wins all the time. A ecosystem is "definitely" needed. A place where community can revolve, others will take notice - and want to become a part of that revolve. It will get bigger.

Community is where it is at. I applaud they're uplay cohesive move, It ties all the Ubi experiences together.

The next big step, take feedback from your community "in a BIG way" not just tiny bits here & there. Use uplay, see whom in there has logged the most hours on your game, seek input from them, as long as this feedback reflects the core game values and only looks to improve it, use it to advantage. Maybe they have written articles here in the forums, use that!

The flipside to all this from what I see, It awakens the community to the fact, they really have a role, therefore, invigorating excitement which then latches on and catches on thus bringing in more people whom look for this kind of attention in return for they're loyalty & committed hours. So many games out there, to find a hardcore group loyal to your game is a blessing! Not just a sale, but, free marketting, free bug/glitch reports, free insider ways to enhance your existing products experience for another year or so. Soo many benefits here. Uplay has a chance to grow into this Eco system. Let's see how far it goes.

Hardcore tactical shooters aren't commercially viable to the console market and never have, that's why games like Arma and Operation Flashpoint will never sell well on the console. Given the abysmal unit sales for Future Soldier, I can see that even if they did manage to make a Tom Clancy game that appeals to both their real fans that are called "hardcore" and everyone else, it still wouldn't sale as well as Ubi Soft would hope, meaning as well as Halo or Call of Duty. If the console version of the original Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six 3 only sold less than 2 million in units, then Patriots won't even sell much more than the Vegas games even if it did manage to "strike a balance between the mainstream shooters and classic Rainbow Six", if it even gets that close in sells. As far as Red Storm is concerned, its debatable as to how involved they are in the development of Patriots, and I wouldn't get my hopes up too high anyway as we seem to have forgotten that it was Red Storm that developed the crappy Lockdown, the game that started the downfall of the franchise.

Other games have severely failed in attracting new customers to the multiplayer arena. I'm hoping the UBISOFT team reviews some of these suggestions.

The first step. Admit that COD rules. Once that's done, avoid focusing on Activision, but focus on the people that play the game. That's your sample size for likes and dislikes.

New publishers want to be different in their multiplayer offering. The solution - is don't do that. Go with what works. Go with what the masses like. A publishers end goal is revenue, so do what needed to a achieve that. COD has set the standard and the masses approve. Learn from that.

Hit detection - Realism is good thing, but not when applied to shooting mechanics. COD is not realistic by any means and that's a great thing. EASE OF PLAY. The weapons are steady and sway is extremely minimal. Hits needed for a kill are few. This makes it easy to play and avoids frustration. Some other multiplayer shooters (prefer not to mention names) are extremely frustrating. Its hard to shoot, aim & you need half a clip just to get a kill. If your opponent (a good player) starts strafing, then getting a kill is impossible especially for a beginner.

Intuitive spawning - Spawn where the safest player is, instead of choosing locations (depends on game mode)

Focus on Team Death match - Keep teams 6 v 6. Whether you like it or not. Its the most popular game mode out there. If you get that right, then other games modes will also share some of the success

Avoid exclusive deals for releasing DLC content. DLC content should release on all consoles at the same time.

I remember playing rainbow six vegas 2 multiplayer a long time ago. The servers were really bad, but I can honestly say I really enjoyed it. Of course several improvements are needed, but this is the title that will hopefully change the multiplayer market. Its a big pie, so feel free to take a big bite out of it. I can hardly wait.

If you have comments or thoughts on my suggestions please share.

ease tell me this is a troll

only a moron would make their game like COD, COD sales are down with BO2.

Game play is terrible, people want a skill based shooter not a game based on exploits, host advantage, perks and what not.

The thing that makes cod popular is having SP, MP, zombies, plus a party system with working mics. Thats the only things that should be taken from that game.

COD sucks the only game that I liked is ops. Rainbow would rule if they upgraded a few things like graphics leave the gameplay in MP alone make it a little bit faster paced not unrealistic though. It doesn't need all the perks and scorestreaks of COD. Heck they could put the original RB and Black Arrow together with upgraded graphics and I would buy it while their ****ing around with Patriots.

For me, it's okay if they go the COD route (if they feel they need to), but certainly give game modes for the rest of us, (non-respawn, objective-based modes).

No, hate to disagree but when you start having to appeal to the COD crowd you've already misread your market. A few tacked on game modes won't and can't save a game that designed from the get go with a COD audience in mind.

I disagree , demand is their for a proper slower paced TRUE GR/R6/SC game ON THE PC
    Ubi refuse's to release it

Like the refuse to have decent two way communication to the public
and refuse to keep client-server networking code

Its all about pushing out the latest action shooter for the cod/3rd person shooter generation and to the hell if its half working

For FPS , RTS and RPG you cant go past using a proper controller method like standard USB Keyboard and mouse.

Console joypad works great as a platformer, sports, car, fighting game but the fast paced , quick reaction and proper method for FPS you cant go past a kb/m
Got problems with GRFS1 Multi player - PC GRFS1 Community report your issues + bugs + problems THREAD
Snoopyau on uPlay DRM (Splinter cell and Ubisoft Future Soldier) - Two Level 80 Engineer's on Ghost Recon Future Soldier 1 PC
