When it's time to die, let us not discover that we have never lived.
Without freedom, there is no
difference between submission and rebellion.
What kind of defense would there be?
Mediaeval Kevlar? :P
Seriously though, you can use knives if you're quick enough, or Firecrackers if you're also close.enough.
In ACB apparently Mute would break a gun lock, though I don't know if the pursuerhas to be in range (assume so) and I also don't know if same applies to ACR.
Of course any of those won't prevent the pursuer relocking and shooting you unless you manage to stun him/her.
Lovechild of Eveline Guerra and Teodor Viscardi... <3
Who says I'm obsessed?
Because it is the most annoying abilitiy in the game...
I use it myself though, lol.
Simply make more obstacles, like NPCs.

That doesn't always work though. I can't remember the last time that did work for me, actually. Now if someone aims at me and I duck behind a corner/wall/NPC, I just get shot through the obstacle. And I know this sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I promise I'm not when I say it's a rule, not just a "most of the time" or "sometimes" thing. But I know that's supposedly an issue with lag...my internet issues will never end, it seems.
To the OP, follow persia's advice. He's an excellent player. I would suggest doing a search for threads and looking for his, lethalla's, and obliviondoll's comments, as all three know what they are talking about. Obliviondoll was the one who really got me started with understanding ACB MP, in fact.

I was actually talking about making NPCs act as obstacles in the next game, because they don't act as such at the moment, lol. Just like some other objects that you can shoot through.

The majority of lag issues in ACB and ACR can be directly attributed to Ubisoft, and the issues on your end are likely to stem from those if your connection is good, or be compounded by them if it's not. If you can play other games with minimal trouble (like I can with a lot of games I enjoy), the problem isn't your internet connection. ACB worked perfectly fine pre-patch. Since then, it was turned from a great game with solid netcode into a barely-playable mess. ACR started off barely a half-step better than ACB. Not a good look.
There's a reason the playerbase dropped off almost as soon as the patch had been released - the lag was already enough to be causing minor issues, and making it worse because of a less important complaint was stupid, and STILL needs fixing.
Ooooh, lol. Sorry, my brain wasn't functioning so well when I read your response the first time. Yeah, if I remember correctly, NPCs acted as obstacles in ACB pretty well. At bare minimum until the patch. In ACR, they don't do jack. On a side note, is there some exploit with hidden gun and stationary blend groups? Either I've been really bad about choosing a spot to hide from a gunner in the past (which is very much possible), or I've gotten picked out of stationary blend groups (and I'm talking about with at least one blended double) by gunners a suspicious amount.
Yeah, I've sworn up and down that I'm not supporting Ubisoft for AC3 because of the foul responses of their support team regarding issues I've had in ACR. The thing is that the SP does look great and I am curious about their new graphics engine for the SP. I wouldn't mind buying the game to support them for that (which is the only reason I've popped on these forums the past few days...I was wondering where the MP was going to go with the new game being in colonial America, and not so secretly hoping that maybe they decided against MP because of how different it would be...sadly, I was wrong), but the MP experience has left that bad of a taste in my mouth. Ubisoft has redeemed themselves a bit with the iOS game AC Recollections...I think they've done a great job with that game and the devs for that game do seem invested in working with the community...which has influenced my slight change of mind, but yeah. I just still have a bad taste in my mouth from everything.
