Thread: Penalty to quitters! | Forums

  1. #51
At the end of the day I think the only real penalty that works is No (XP or RP) unless they finish the round.

Which they pretty much have already.

Yeah it's chinsey when people leave but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

    Another reason for; FIRETEAMS

I dont think in the short period of time I played the beta before it ended I quit in the middle of the match, sometimes at the end of the round, but thats life.
Guess what I'm adding is sometimes you might have to leave for work you get caught up in a match and realize hey I gotta jet I'm gonna be late,**** happens.
But if a penalty is needed I always thought it was that you did not recieve your xp or rp.My problem is that a whole bunch of times the server would randomly mixx the teams between matches
to even the playing field, which is really annoying, you finally get with some good players and start to win and it gets split up which suck's.

If you need to quit a game for RL commitments or interruptions then a time penalty doesn't effect you. That's why it's better than a rewards penalty.

Most of this issue will likely be resolved when we have a larger pool of online players. Meanwhile, I'm on board with the current solution of forfeited XP/RP gains for aborted matches.
This is a fine solution to that end of the problem... but what does it do for the people on the other end who are now down a man? Players need to be replaced in matches far quicker than they currently are.

If round 1 ends and 3 or 4 people leave, currently when round 2 starts you will be down those 3 or 4 people until about 2 points have been capped. Which leads to people joining games that are just about over, and not being happy. Lets face it, if a map didn't get brutally unbalanced by afk people or just lopsided teams at match start because matchmaking / game finding worked decently then we really wouldn't care if people left at all.

Don't punish people who leave games - they're leaving for usually legit reasons (not having fun) - make the system better so that they do have fun.

attempt to match similar ability with similar ability by establishing a kind of tier system (based on k:d ratio, time played, whatever. there are a million options. And then improve the system so that when 1 guy quits, or there's uneven teams, the server attempts to add people every 60 seconds or something.

Sure more players may improve this somewhat without effort - but what about all those times in off-peak hours? Just do it right the first time so you don't have to **** with it down the line.

Its hard to replace people quicker when theres maybe noone looking for a match at the time.

Time penalties are ridiculous and ludicrous you can't make money sitting people in the corner for being bad and leaving a game for x amount of minutes. People are not going to play such bs they will just play another shooter and spend there money where they have no penalties. This isn't grade school you don't force penalties on people because they don't do as you think they should.

Devs need to encourage people to play as has been said. If they do that by better balancing or special servers for begineers etc.. time will tell. This is not the first shooter like this of its kind and i have never heard of many shooters having quit problems. I think this is a problem dreamed up by people that can't appreciate the testing limitations of this game via population limits. Wait till open beta when there are 100's to 1000's of people playing then comeback with this.

If you penalize people they will just find a way around it. If that means disconnecting there router causing a desync or running something to intentionally crash the game to avoid penalty people will do it. You think people will just sit and take ridiculous penalties. All you would have to do is login to another account and play again so many ways to beat a system of penalties.

I'd sooner see devs fix the serious issues in this game this is not one of them. Its nothing more then a minor annoyance.

Reward people for staying in a game for 10/20 minutes. 100RP bonus.
