    Crossfire and other feedback

I'm sure others have mentioned this but I just wanted to state that since the new update, I can now get past the original black screen while loading the game while in crossfire with my two PowerColor 6850HD's only to find the game is choppy. Although I can run GRO no problem on one card, the game cannot handle two gpu's for some reason. I think it would be better if this was fixed so that users can get the max potential out of this game. If the V-sync, textures and crossfire and other issues are fixed, this would be my favourite game to play online.

I personally didn't like how the prone movement was slowed down. I feel that in this current modern warfare, let alone a future soldier (which is what I thought ghost recon online was, a spin off of a future soldier), the soldiers can move faster than that during prone. The prone movement before v0.6.0 was better in my opinion.

I don't feel there is a point to buying impact grenades now because the damage has been reduced dramatically. In fact, it doesn't even make sense to buy them. You reduced the damage from 250 to 130. That's a 120 damage drop and would barely kill a specialist!!!! The price for them would have to be reduced slightly, or the damage for the more powerful impact grenade has to be increased.

I found it weird that both of the recon class' devices are rechargeable as you use them. Set aside that both of recon's devices are powerful, if they are both useable during recharge, it makes the recon class slightly overpowered since recons also have SMG's with high firing rates. Although, I'm not sure what to do to resolve this. Maybe switch the devices around with the classes or make some more devices that can recharge for other classes. More fair.

Anyways, thanks ubisoft for creating another great game, thanks for the opportunity to beta test, and I hope I get an official invite from you shortly.

    Thoughts anyone?

V-Sync is a fundamentally flawed technology. With V-Sync, the video card tries to make the frames of video that it puts out line up perfectly with the timing for the frames of video that the monitor puts out. The irony is that this is an impossible task because no video card in the world will ever be able to perfectly keep up with the timing of the monitor. This means that the video card's frame rate will always be slower than the monitor's. Additional irony is that, even though the video card is puting out less frames than with V-Sync turned off, it is actually working harder to try and keep it's frames in perfect timing with the monitor. This causes the graphics to slow down a bit from the extra work load, reducing the frame rate even more. So, what is V-Sync even for, anyway? It prevents a very minor visual bug (displaying two frames at once, causing a line to appear across the screen on a single frame) from showing up when the video card's frame rate is faster than the monitor's. All of that extra work causing the video card to slow down is just to prevent a silly line from showing up on one frame of video every once in a while. If V-Sync seems to not work right, it may not be the game's fault.

I beleve I read that AMD used V-Synk to make and edit film or movies. Turn it off for gaming.

V-Sync matches (or syncs) your monitor's refresh and the rendering rate, or FPS, of the game. This prevents screen tearing and some graphical distortions.

Turning it on is recommended for most games. It will cap your FPS at your monitors refresh rate, and some people misinterpret that as capping performance, but your monitor can't display those extra frames and they end up causing tearing.

Recommended: ON. (Especially if you're prone to headaches from flashing light.)

Interestingly enough, I've always had SLI turned on (the Nvidia equivalent of Crossfire) and I've never had any issues with the game not working. I am however, using "Nvidia Surround" on three monitors instead of just a single display. There's probably some difference there.

The prone rotation speed was decreased to be more realistic, and it's much better the way it is now. It prevents people who dolphin-dive from hitting the ground and spinning around like a top while mowing people down. They changed it to discourage dolphin-diving and make the game much more realistic. The new speed doesn't effect anyone who's using prone in a realistic way.

The devs stated that they had to reduce the damage of impact grenades to balance them out. Having a grenade that instantly detonates and doesn't give the victim a fighting chance to get away or survive just isn't fair at all. I'm a huge fan of the reduced damage on impact grenades. It will promote the use, practice, and eventual mastery of the timed grenades. Impact grenades always seemed kind of cheap to me in this game anyway.

Again, the developers have stated that they have played with the devices a lot. They're also reluctant to make large changes to how and when you can use them based on state of charge. Letting the other classes use their abilities while on recharge makes them incredibly overpowered, and preventing Recon's from using their abilities whenever they have a little charge seemed to make them underpowered. Since the last few patches I've found that the Recon's have been balanced quite well. They may seem overpowered but if you play as one (even one with Cloak and an SMG), you'll see that they really aren't that bad.

V-Sync works perfectly fine, you just need a graphics card (or cards) that can consistently provide higher frame rates than the refresh rate of your monitor. V-Sync is a glorious technology and I use it almost all the time, it keeps your graphics cards from working harder than they need to. That saves you power and also generates less heat, meaning that your entire system runs slightly cooler.

Most monitors out there cap out at 60Hz, some of the 3D ones are 120Hz. That's basically your refresh rate per seond (60/120 refreshes a second). For all intents and purposes that means your graphics cards only need to pump out 60 or 120 frames per second (FPS) at the resolution you're playing at. Not a hard task for a lot of games with mid-high range graphics cards. I consistnatly have a solid 60 FPS with V-Sync enabled in GRO, and it shoots upwards to 90 when I disable V-Sync.

V-Sync doesn't mean what you think it means.

After playing phase 3 for a while now, I don't mind the impact grenade damage reduction. Maybe when you can't used to one setting and there is a sudden change you just have to get used to it. I guess what the dev team said makes sense then. I still think this is a more or less flawless online game. I absolutely love it.

Don't know why, but NVidia says to turn OFF V-sync for almost all applications, unless you have issues. In my case, I see too many stuttering frames and jerky movements if the V-Sync is on. V-Sync can contribute significantly to graphic lag.

No idea why they would recommend disabling it, especially since they've been hyping the Adaptive V-Sync feature in the control panel a lot recently.
