Could someone define game types or steer me to a link?

I've been playing GRO merrily gor about a month without fully understanding the difference between "Attack/Defense" and "Onslaught", if indeed these are the two available game types. And am I correct in stating that you cannot actively choose which one to play?

Can anyone explain, or steer me to a link for an explanation? Many thanks.

There are two game types in GRO right now; Conquest, and Onslaught.

Conquest is a tug-of-war style mode where both teams have to try and capture a neutral objective in the middle of the map. Then there are two additional points on either side of the neutral point that you can take for more points or to win. You can win Conquest by either taking the neutral point and holding it until the end of the game, or taking ALL of the enemy points.

Onslaught is the attack/defend game type. The attackers have an initial spawn point and need to take two different objectives (A and B), which then opens point C. The defenders spawn then moves back behind C and the attacker deployment moves up.
