The Ghost Recon novels would like to argue for the existence of female Ghosts. I have read both of them.

The first one has two female Ghosts. Major Gray is actually the person that recruits Captain Mitchell to the Ghosts in the first place, and is a command officer at that point.

Alicia Diaz is the team's marksman in the first novel, and participates in the mission.
She breaks her ankle prior to the mission in the second novel, and is never mentioned beyond that.

Her bio lists her as being part of GR2, GRAW, and GRAW2, but I don't remember them in the PC version of the game: http://ghostrecon.wikia.com/wiki/Alicia_Diaz

In addition, since Ghosts are off-the-record, they could technically be allowed to have females regardless of the fact that standard US military has MOS gender restrictions.


PS. The second novel is garbage. I would suggest never acknowledging it exists, because it ruins any reputation of the quality of people recruited to the Ghosts.

I can view others' coments on this as opinions. This is very sexist. Interesting that it's posted where there are TWO women actively working as Forum Managers.

If you honestly think (and it shows how uneducated you are upon the world's history) that women are not in the special forces in one capacity or another, then you sir are worse than him.

just to point out, Israel has had mixed gender battalions operating for years and they even accept women for selection of Shaldag unit
and with the recent change to US law defining the role of women in war. there should really be a gender selection option along with race

As I said, it would be unrealistic to have a female spec ops character in the single player. I mean currently women are only allowed on the frontline as medics (uk) I believe, and that's took 100s of years to achieve, GR is set in 12 years time so that's just too soon for women to be able to do that role, maybe in 50 years or so the Army will be more open minded to the thought but as it currently stands sexism is still rampant in the armed forces from top to bottom.

In the MP, yes I think they should have women but it should be linked to your profile, this way it'll stop the inevitable school kids choosing a female character all the time even though they themselves are male.
