Thread: Why the paucity of information only six weeks out? | Forums

  1. #41
Most of that information is just a reiteration and extrapolation of what has been known from the 'there will be a PC version ' news release over a month ago... So this will for a fact be the first Ghost Recon PC game with no mod support period? Not even an MDK release after the game has been out for a while as part of a patch or something like GRAW? I know most PC Fans would rather pay and would pay more for mod support then DLC with two maps and new hats... What about all the DirectX 11 post processing effects; will be be able to turn this stuff down or turn it off entirely? As what we are seeing in 'claimed ' PC screen shots looks shockingly bad..

    Thumbs up

So another week of "SOON" has passed, and we still have no new information on the game but the months old quarter page blurb of marketing blather, and one screen shot! No PC screen shots, no videos, no new new information except what we all expected from the QPB which is a list of "NO" as in:

    · NO MOD SUPPORT
    · NO SERVER BROWSER
    · NO DEDICATED SERVER
    · NO LAN SUPPORT
    · NO NEW INFORMATION
    · NO DEMO
    · NO MEDIA PRIOR TO PURCHASE?

Does Ubisoft really want PC Fans thinking in terms of negatives this close to the game going on sale for PC?

    "Soon"

Seriously though, due to Ubi lack of promotion / effort in regards to the PC version, one has to wonder what affect this has on PC sales. This is bad for several reasons:

    A) Less PC multiplayer users.
    B) Ubi will turn these stats around and say "See, no one buys our PC games."

Believe me we are contacting the developers daily for information for you.

Bottom line is the PC version will be as close as possible to the console versions, it will share the same modes/ maps and have matchmaking.

There is a thread stickied with information about the PC version detailing the enhancements and you can read them here http://ghost-recon.ubi.com/gr-portal...t=tcm:6-231-32, there isn't much more information we can give you at this moment. Of course when we do have more information we will post it.

However, I am trying to get more screenshots, trailers and answers to your questions for you.

Arma 2 was buggy, crap animations, and regards mp NOBODY had a clue what they were doing, there was no communication, no team work, no fun. Basically if I am honest Arma 2 was dreadful. And I put a lit of hours into it. They NEED to create in game tutorials to show new players all about MP what to do and how to do it, other wise it will end up in the same feight. Only a small community of hardcore mil nerds.

Not to belabor the point, but some Executive decision maker at Ubisoft has to realize how ridiculously bad this situation looks and sounds; a new 'AAA' priced PC title, where the only defining difference for the PC platform will be support for DirectX 11, yet with less then a month from release all we know is a functional equivalent in new car model marketing where "The new car will support round wheels". Somebody at Ubisoft besides Ubi-Mush has to be concerned about this...

Even minimizing this calamity to the b-roll of information rather than positive marketing; will there for example be configurable settings for DOF, blur, bloom and draw distance? As there's to be no PC demo and prospective paying Customers have been asking for PC information since GR:FS was announced for PC; is it reasonable to assume the console marketing copy, quarter page PC blurb and single screen shot buried on a forum are what's expected to sell the PC platform?

Putting it another way; for those of us that are actually interested in the game at this late arcation, and hope the PC release will at least have enough sales and Players that the match-making will work -- with less marketing copy and media then is typically afforded to sell bargain bin 'value' games that retail for about $5 U.S.; what exactly do Ubisoft's decision makers imagine is going to motivate PC sales to get us there? Is more and useful information really coming, or is this black hole of unknowns really what's expected to work by some sort of magic?
