decided to take up SH5 after staying away for a long time from the game because of all the bugs...
completed the 3 quests in "Total Germany
going back to base
asking for new mission
clicking skip or hearin through mission brief makes no difference
all 3 missions are still "Total Germany" and all "Crosses are highlighted" as in completed...
What do I do?
New campaign missions come at certain dates. You must wait for these dates. Total Germany goes till June 1st 1940, I think. You just have to kill time by patroling wherever you want. Eventually a mission will come up, and you will be notified by radio message. I hope this helps.
Within each campiagn (i.e. coastal Waters) there are main objectives to achieve. These will be things like "sink 50,000 tonnes of coastal shipping". As you achieve this tonnage a progress bar will fill so you can keep track of your progress. When the bar is full, you have achieved the objective and will be awarded crosses to fill your campaign bar.
Most of these objectives a time/date related and if you fail to fill the progress bar within that time - you will fail the objective.
Failing the objective will not stop your campaign. You may have some blocked objectives or even blocked campaigns as a result, but your career will continue.
If you finish an objective within the time frame given - you may not get a new one untill a later date. When this happens, you should go out and patrol anywhere you like, hunting any ship you like. this is a good time to test your skills by trying some harbour raids etc.
When the time comes for a new objective, you will be sent a radio message informing you that new objectives are ready. You do not need to return to port and select it. You can just go and start the new objective from where you are. You do not need to select an objective from the main briefing map (except Triumph of the Wolfpack and the Training Drills for WA and TP).
When you do select an objective from the main briefing map, you will also be given a secondary mission. This will be thing like "Drop of supplies at area X" see here for an example When you achieve these secondary missions, you will be rewarded with extra renown points that you can use to upgrade your u-boat. If you do not do these secondary missions - there is no penalty.
I found this, hope it helps.
Hi guys, sorry to trouble you (again)...I hope this is the right place to post:
Problem: Cannot pick mission since "Request mission" tab is not present under the mission description
Did the tutorial. After the tutorial picked the "British Coastal Shipping" mission via the "Request Mission" tab and got a "Patrol Area" kind of mission. Completed mission and the "Coastal Shipping" tonnage objective in one go. Waited until base changed from kiel to wilhelmshaven and ended the patrol in wilhelm.
Now I see the "British Coastal Shipping" main tonnage objective completed but I can't pick the other mission in the atlantic...no "Request mission" tab can be found under the mission description.
P.S. I am using a legitimate copy.
problem solved (sort of).
g_calin if you got it solved (sort of) could you post what you did? Others may read your question and wonder what you did to get going again.
Sorry for the late reply...I gave up on playing the game at that time, it was (and still is) too much of a headache. So I didn't do anything to get it going again at that time, I just simply gave up... Until some while ago, when I decided to take it up and try to play it again.

The company which imported the game asked for the details of my purchase and I sent them a copy of the receipt and one of the product itself with some sort of code (this I sent to Ubisoft too but they only invited me to experience their bureaucratic limbo procedures).
So, after I sent all that information to the company who imported the product in my country, after a week or so they called me to tell me that they regret that there was no serial number in the box (at which point I considered writing a notice to the Customer Protection Agency - and now I'm sorry I didn't). They sent me the key and now I have it but that had killed all my interest in playing the game...
After five-six months or so I started playing it again (on a new os, fresh install). All was good (did about 5 tours and all was ok) until one day the following happened:
1. If I start uplay in online mode, the game crashes after the intro movie. I can start uplay, log in, it synchronises my saves and then I have to go offline and play offline (the only way I can play it because otherwise the game crashes).
2. Campaign objectives bars do not update as I progress through the tonnage required + I can't choose the "British supplies" mission since it doesn't have a "request" button and I get random crashes in the game.
1. restarting the career.
2. checking the documents/data/cfg/savegames/0000/campaign blablabla/campaign.cfg for the "Is_unlocked=true" line (and it's unlocked)
3. reinstalling uplay
None worked. So, I guess that after six months I'm in the same position I was when I first tried to play it. I'm still hoping that Ubisoft adresses these issues through patch support or new updates (I'm updated to the 1.2.0 and uplay is also updated) that would allow me to actualy use their product. But then agian, maybe I'm being naive to think so...
What do you think about this, any leads?
