Thanks all, I was mostly looking for a "If you have a ten knot contact, assume X degrees for every thousand yards?" type of answer, but all the input is much appreciated.

Well the short answer direct from the naval torpedo guide is that 1 degree spans about 100ft at 2000yds. Target speed is not a factor in calculating that type of spread.

The formula just gives you a way to integrate a few key variables and quickly figure a spread for multiple torpedoes.
