Man, I am already toast, and have not even started. I probably won't be able to start until Friday. Well see. No matter how pitiful, I will post a score.

Only played this song once before today (definitely not my favorite Soundgarden, not even close), but I gave it a look today and it didn't give me any problems, so maybe I'll work up a MM score this weekend. I've been working on "Jessica" today, and moving on to this song is a huge respite for my poor aching fingertips. I was surprised at how easily the solo came to me, 6 months ago the slides and diddlies would've given me some pause but I was able to get it mastered in less then 10 lives. Feels good, man.
Yea, for my first run I was around 60k, second run about 85k, then I went into leveler got everything up to mastered and popped a 111K with only 94% and 94NS. This time around I made sure to 'lead' the band though I didn't really have to think about it because this type of song is pretty similar to what I usually play (drop-d / riffy style) and it seems to be paying off well. I think the key to getting the bonus and 'leading' the band is to anticipate where the beat should land instead of waiting to see it on screen/hear it through the speakers.
Basically... I'm just jamming and not really paying attention to what's on the screen (except for parts I don't have memorized 100%) and this seems to be helping me with memorizing quickly as well.
Not trying to take anything away from cgeorg, but I was just curious where everyone stands with current scores (muzac and rcole_sooner haven't posted theirs yet). I find it interesting that Funk-n-Stein has a higher score, lower %, & lower NS (on advanced) than Killswitch (on XNMM)... this scoring system boggles my mind!

What I noticed after a few weeks participating on challenges and trying to score as high as possible, and these are my opinions/feelings, not necessarily true:
1. playing to the audio instead of the video gives you a higher score
2. "leading the band", or "playing slightly ahead gives you a higher score
3. Removing all possible audio lag gives you a higher score (I score slightly better on headphones than through the home theater with analog cables, and definitely better than through the TV via HDMI)
4. If you play the song to the audio, video lag does not make any difference (that's my feeling... I tried lags from 0 to 130. It seems that 65 in my systems is the most approximate measure of hitting the sweet spot at the same time I hear the note in the headphones, but I did score high with any video lag if I play to the audio instead of video)
Looking for suggestions... Keep getting 97 and 98% accuracy, but my best score is only 110K . Playback sounds like i'm with the song for the most part, but I'm not reaching a good score. I've tried with lag set at zero and 50, and everywhere in between. Using HDMI and have tried every sound option on my TV (Vizio) but nothing helps. Kinda lost.![]()
Grab a video of you playing, where both you and the backing music can be heard, and post it up. We'll take a look.
Is there a noticeable delay for you between playing a note and hearing it on the TV? For instance, when I was going through HDMI, I couldn't play I Miss You because the playback was a full note behind what I was actually playing.
Scoring is so weird, I'm definitely leaving points on the table with that lower streak and accuracy (I need to try my SG on the song instead of the tele, after watching the replay, I noticed that notes that I could hear I was hitting, weren't registering, particularly long sustain notes.) So it doesn't make any sense that I have a higher score than Killswitch. I'll be interested to see what happens when I level the solo. Didn't have time last night and wont tonight, but should have plenty of time on the weekend.
I play to the audio, and my setup is HDMI to Plasma for Video, Optical to Home Theater system for audio (sometimes headphones, but that score was through HTS.)
