Lightbulb Please don't change Rainbow Six

I was a huge player of Rainbow Six Vegas 1, I was on one of the top ten clans on MLG. I loved that game and then Rainbow Six Vegas 2 came out and it was a huge disappointment. I hate the call of duty games they are a sad excuse for a game. People that play Rainbow Six play it because it's different then all the other war games. So what I am asking of you please keep Rainbow Six the same. Don't try to make it some what like Call of Duty, if you do I can promise you that you will let all of the true fans down.

I'm taking a wild guess vegas was your first rainbow six. Since raven shield, rainbow six has continually changed it's style of gameplay. I wouldn't expect any kind of stability soon.

Believe it or not, there are actually people out there that have played the Vegas games but have never even heard of all the Rainbow Six titles before them. It came as a great shock to me, but than again, it really shouldn't have shocked me since it seems that Ubi Soft would rather have us forget about the old classics altogether.

I am one of the rare breed that have played every Rainbow title AND actually enjoyed Vegas 1. The play style of Vegas 1 worked, but, they desperately need to include a proper hardcore or "classic" mode and not just no health regen and that "tightened" 3rd person cover crap, but a mode that caters for the "older" fan base. I'm talking full control over mission plans, waypoints, go codes, selecting the correct personnel for the mission.

If my mission plan is not correct or I have the wrong personnel for the job and one of my team is KIA, he's dead and no longer available for future missions. I want to have to spend 10 minutes in the dead of night, watching and learning patrol routes of a heavily defended villa so that I can plan and execute my Ingress/Egress to grab some intel without firing a single shot. I want to be dropped in the Congo to attack a chemical lab, but I am dropped at the bottom of a cliff with a ladder up to the top, if I climb the ladder at the wrong time or I don't check my surroundings as I reach the top, I get my head taken off for my troubles.

In short, by all means keep the Vegas 1 play style as it works for the Next Gen fan base and especially for the MP facet of the game, but, for single player/co-op missions lets have the ability for a "classic" mode as well as "next gen" mode. Hopefully Red Storm's involvement will bring back some classic facets of the game.

Other than the fact that the Vegas games were incomplete, mainly due to being direct consol ports and never really finnished for the PC they were alright games in their own right. However I dont think they should have carried the Rainbow Six name. UBI should have stuck with "Las Vegas Shootout" which is what the games basically were. The original R6 games upto and including Raven Sheild were in a league of their own and unfortunately UBI saw that their later games would not sell without the R6 title attached to them. Unfortunately the series has now been destroyed and I will be very wary about buying any further titles due to the lack of support offered for the Vegas games. There is now an issue of trust for myself and the thousands of other R6 fans that feel letdown and indeed robbed by UBI. I am sure that the game will be fun for those who buy it if it works but how soon will the support and updates stop? will there be map editors? will UBI release new maps or take your money and run? These are just my thoughts on it. I might even buy the game after a year or 2 if there is positive player feedback and UBI support with servers that dont crash out on a regular basis but we shall just have to wait and see.

I have played from the first R6 on Xbox, and I would say that the only one that was a flop was "Lockdown". Still the gameplay was always very well done and the controller commands very effective. Hopefully this won't change, fully.
Of course, they have to evolve on the game play, but it would be a mistake to fully change everything when the recipe was already a big win-win with gamers. They need to keep, first, the old, loyal R6 gamers happy...
I also hope to see the M16 back as well as my good ol' G36c!

I can still remember the day I walked by EBGames and saw the cover art of the original PC R6. From the first time I popped that cd into my PC I was hooked!

It's amazes me why Ubisoft hasn't done a recreation anniversary edition of the original R6 & R6 Rogue Spear... call me stupid but wouldn't that make a good chunk of cash. Edios did it with Tomb Raider and made a pretty penny on it, didn't they?

Sony is another company that amazes me... they would rather kill the fan favorite, Socom franchise rather than recreate an anniversary edition that fans have been craving (& and even petitioned) for it to be made.

I just don't get these companies, they get all these requests from fans that are tired of the modern "accessible"shooters that have been plaguing the genre and they have been asking for more of the challenging gameplay of past mixed with the graphics of today. And still, they try to mimic the modern over saturated accessible shooter genre... but there's only so much of that pie to go around.

Common sense tells me that even the more casual gamer can adapt to a more challenging & dynamic style of shooter eventually... wouldn't they?

I don't agree. I've played all the RB6 games, and I think Vegas is the best. I grew up on all the early PC titles, and while they were fun and there was more freedom and open world feeling, I don't agree that they were better. RV2 is more polished, amazing character customizations, better cover mechanics, better weapons handling, enemy AI is a little too crazy but all in all much better game. If you know how to use proper tactics when assaulting a building, vehicle or position, and utilize your squad efficiently, RV2 is a very fun, true to life game, for me anyway. I say keep most of the elements of Rainbow Vegas 2. I agree that it could be more in depth in terms of raid planning, controlling the squad, and executing the raid or plan, losing squad members etc, but I accept it for what it is, I appreciate RV2, and enjoy it.

I stopped reading your post after I got to that point. I'm gonna go on the limb and say that you probably couldn't handle the difficulty of the old R6 games...

Hi Everyone, just thought I would put my 2c in.

I have been playing this series since the original r6, I think I was 12-13 years old at the time, playing on zone.com. Moved on to Rogue Spear, UO, then eventually Ravenshield. After RvS died I stopped playing all together. I can't really comment on Vegas and any of the other games since then but back on the zone.com days those were the prime days for us r6 gamers. I miss those days so much, my favorite days of gaming. I have played CoD and the newer games but I never get that feeling I once had from r6. I really hope Ubi reads these forums and sees what the original gamers want but still giving the casual new gamer a chance as well. Iv been really excited about r6p but at the same time I will not get my hopes to high.
