Okay, hot off the presses: using the "Perform" option from the Songs menu for a single song only changes the scenery. Performing a song as part of a set seems both to kick up the phrase levels and also level easier. I just did both types of performance, and there were clear differences.

Oh, and don't play "Space Ostrich" at the end of the session when your reflexes are starting to slow and your fingers hurt. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

Try an 8 song event with free bird & megadeth & painkiller.

.actually now that i think of it...I'm kinda tempted to put together the most impossible set and try it out.

Yeah, I had SSB in the same set as "Space Ostrich." But I only needed 25K so it wasn't too bad. I have to play that more; it's not even that difficult other than the insane tapping at the end (and I've no intention to learn that).

"I think it's been identified as a necessary improvement. I've certainly had a higher score for a song and when I go in to play it again, maybe after a few weeks working on different things, and if I end the session, it saves the last score whatever it is vs only if it's higher than the last saved score."

Ah , now I understand - on a per song basis, I thought you meant overall RSP. Yes indeed,an irritiation.
But ultimately RSP is meaningless, you can do what you can do, you can play what you can play - the score will return.

Agree, and while I'm not playing for points, there still is a competitive person inside this body that winces when my score drops

I played around with this last night.

There is a difference between single song performance mode versus rehearsal mode. Bear in mind this test was done with a song that I have not fully leveled nor obviously played a MM performance so your mileage may vary. In rehearsal mode I was getting a leveled down version of the song OR in performance mode I am getting a slightly leveled up version of the song. Either rehearsal is leveling down or performance is leveling up. I am not sure which, I suppose I could go into Riff Repeater and maybe verify that way, but I didn't bother. From the very beginning in performance mode I was getting more notes, I switch to practice mode immediately less notes. I was doing this test last night with We Share the Same Skies Combo.

Kind of a bummer as I am not a fan of the reverb at all. I guess I need to find the absolute smallest venue with the least amount of reverb. I agree RSP doesn't matter but I am playing to improve and if rehearsal is holding back notes then it doesn't really help.

Performance mode levels you up slightly. I hadn't noticed in the single song performance mode, though...or maybe it's just more pronounced in the sets. Good to know, though!

sometimes I go play at 363 Brannan when I am learning a new song. I like how as you level up the crowd starts getting into it.

would be nice if you could get a encore if you do well.

I think it would handy if there was a faster way to make a set list
    like from the main menu

    Set list
    select a venue
then select the songs you want to play

then let you save it, so you have a preset set list you can go back and play anytime you want. or let you edit it to change songs or venue.
